Have you ever gotten irritated by Gerudo Town's "no men allowed" law in Breath of the Wild? How it forces you to change your clothes every time you want to enter the town (and you thought Iron Boots in the Water Temple were bad...)? Do you, like me, think the law is stupid, sexist, and counter-productive from a story standpoint?

Well this is an idea for a mod designed to fix that problem and maybe make the game more interesting in the process. Here are the mod's basic goals:

  1. Remove the detection zone from Gerudo Town that causes guards to throw you out. Maybe also the script for Link getting tossed out as well. There's no need for those assets since the "no men" law no longer exists.
  2. Alter NPC dialogue. The "no men" law no longer exists, so the NPCs need not make reference to it. Riju and Buliara's dialogue can skip the observation of Link's identity and get down to the business of getting back the Thunder Crown and stopping Vah Naboris.
  3. Allow male NPCs to appear in Gerudo Town (beyond the odd Goron). Shoot, maybe show some living in Gerudo Town as husbands to the Gerudo themselves.

The mod could also add sidequests revolving around men from other towns meeting Gerudo and moving to Gerudo Town to live with them. In fact, that could tie in with goal #3; as you complete "matchmaking" sidequests, more men appear in Gerudo Town, happily married to or at least living with Gerudo women. There could be at least one "voe" from each of the other tribes - Hylian, Sheikah, Zora, Rito, and even Goron.

So, my main questions are: what would be the best way to go about making this mod happen? What would be the recommended programs to use? What would be the best way to create a backup of the original game just in case? Anyone interested in co-developing?
