[GAME] Diablo2 LoD is B0rked Thread

My Diablo 2 installs fine as far as I can tell, when I upgrade to LoD it also installs fine, but when doing teh mpq integrity test I get an error about a bad mpq file.

I can still play the game but I encounter constant crashes to my desktop with an error window about a line in a c++ file (prolly from the source) and the game not being able to decompress a sprite.

I have queried Blizzard about this, me email was bounced around to about 3 different tech support guys, and they best they could do was to tell me to check the settings on my CD-ROM drive and then uninstall and reinstall... This didn't help at all.

I run Windows 98 on a cenerlon 466mhz processor with 192mb sdram and have an almost brand new 80gb seagate hdd and a no name brand 50x CD-Rom drive. I have not encountered any problems like this on any of my other games. The 4 legitimate Diablo 2 cd's (Install, Game and Cinematics for D2 and Install/Game for LoD) are in premium condition with no scratches at all.

see if someone else has a copy of the game, uninstall it and reinstall it with another disc, and see if that helps... could be your cd thats b0rked

mm possible.. but the cd's have no scratches on them at all and the install worked fine atleast once!

my cd has a big crack down it, and it still works fine, its not the condition of the cds... it could be an error in the stamping of it

if its an error cos of the stamping then why would it work perfect atleast once then??

yeh the first one or two installs installed perfectally

with my new pc and cd re-writer i have discovered that it was most likely my 50x cd-rom drive which packed it in about 2 months ago :s
