Believing the Drakkon's hostility to be merely misguided anger at being ripped away from its home, Evan had sought a peaceful resolution to their battle. Finally, the creature gave in and, ceasing the attack, had asked for an end to their conflict. Accepting its suite for peace, Evan allowed his Psion-blade to dissipate.

For several moments they stood there, chests heaving as they attempted to regain their breath. As soon as they could talk comfortably they clasped hands, seemingly in blossoming friendship. Beginning to relax, Evan lowered his guard. It was the last mistake he ever made.

Jerking Evan towards it, the creature stiffened the fingers on its left hand and drove them into his gut, the claws piercing through the flesh until they emerged from his back on either side of his spine. Closing the fingers around Evan's spinal cord it leaned close, putting its lips next to his ear it said condescendingly; "You truly are a fool, surely you didn't think I'd "play nice" just because you asked?"

With a sinister laugh it twisted the clawed hand which was gripping Evan's spine until with twin snaps the segment tore loose. He slowly slipped off of the creature's bloodied hand to land with a dull thud on the rough stone of the floor. The room fading away around him as the creature walked away, idly shaking the blood from its claws without so much as a backward glance.
