The creators of the popular Dystopia modification for the Source Engine have an appeasing opportunity for those interested. We have one (1) opportunity available that needs to be filled immediately. We have an aggressive plan for growth in the team and believe that you can offer a positive contribution towards our team's success. The position requires time, commitment and teamwork from someone who is interested in game development experience and making money!

Team Dystopia is comprised of a close-knit small group of multi-talented game developers skilled in the Source Engine, the PopCap Engine, the GoldSource Engine and the Quake 3 : Arena Engine. Our team consists of many industry professionals with work experience from popular studios such as Red Storm Entertainment, Epic Games and Pandemic Studios.

We are only looking for those that have an avid interest in being a part of the video game industry, which are easy to work with, friendly and can produce work fast and efficiently!

This position has the pre-requisite of being active in our private IRC channel, readily available to the rest of the team, attending our monthly meetings over our private Ventrilo server, and being an active contributor to the project.

Associate Producer

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of a project's production cycle which includes:
1. Management of proper art direction planning, conceptual stage (data and concept art), asset requirement lists, asset request lists along with project's art lead and designers.
2. Overseeing pre-production stages, groundwork for a full project's production schedule, setting long term deadlines and release dates.
3. Overseeing production stages, milestones, short term deadlines, departmental goals, alpha and beta checklists.
4. Working with quality assurance and quality control spearheads to create the most defect-free product possible, and assisting with black box testing, smoke testing and user testing to create a usable and easy to understand product.
5. Making sure that localization assets, licenses, and any external changes or data that is required for an international release are completed.
• Ensures a high quality product by working with designers, attending design, art and programming meetings and providing expert editorial on game design.
• Manages time effectively by project planning, task prioritization, resource coordination, risk assessment, and proactive problem solving.
• Reports to Executive Producer and will need to follow all instructions given.

Requirements:
• Eager to learn new production, design and communication techniques.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work in a group and individually efficiently.
• Experienced attention for detail.
• Past Project Management, Project Lead or Assistant Lead experience.

Pluses:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Project or an equivalent Project Management program.
• A long standing history and passion for video gaming.
• The drive and motivation to build products and help create one of the best endeavors in indie gaming history.
• Self motivated individuals who can inspire others and is outgoing!

Team Dystopia prides itself on being a small group of individuals who are well rounded in every game development style. Each of our developers is also experienced with differentiating talents in the game development field. Our Level Designers also serve as Modellers, Texture Artists, Animators, Sound Engineers, Music Engineers, Coding or other game-based trades.

Producer is one of the Hardest positions available contrary to popular belief.

Dont believe? Look at all the failed mods out there. Each mod represents a poor producer.

I think the issue might be that, being a producer, people think they won't have a very difficult job ahead of them. Since producers usually don't produce too much actual content, it's easy to think of it as more of a hands-off position. People's expectations are off, so either the wrong people take charge, or the right people just aren't quite sure of how to apply themselves.

Not that I have experience with all that many mod teams. Just the one, and our producers have been swell :)

I am a technology project manager today but wanting to step into game producing. The biggest hurdle I can foresee is the time commitment as I am full time employed, however I still sent a message with my credentials to the email above.
