Cheat Topsites, and get what is coming to you Thread

A site listed on the HL topsites has been cheating the topsite system. Anyhow after about a days research and alot of coding I believe such a bug is now patched up... here is what happens though if I catch you trying to cheat

Now I have just coded in a fix so that such a cheat no longer works. Regardless to say you are still wasting much modDB bandwidth via your ‘cheating code’. Now I have already banned your modification, and I shall delete it and your topsite listing if the offending code is not removed during the next 2 days and ban you and your entire team from the mod database. Now I defiantly do not want to do that so please remove the offending HTML from your site.

i assume making a kind of thing that like refreshs a bot i guess keep those cheaters away intense

They have since removed the offending code, and really apologised. While I don't believe the story I do believe it would be harsh to delete their mod and things so it shall remain.. here is teh reply email I got

What did they do to cheat? Well say the link to topsites was Moddb.com they went <img src=https://www.moddb.com/in.php?ts=1> then each time someone visited there page they got a false visitor in. How did I fix this? Well via an invisable form, with an randomised hash value which changes every 15 seconds. Since Images don't support javascript nor forms the topsites is now damn hard to cheat so yeah all is fixed

Can I ask a think? If the put an image with that url, the image is not showed right? It makes a false visit.
And they must be on the top10 sites to use that cheat right?

i think it was pointed out by a member of ESF cos it aint possible to top the number of topsite hits they get

Just so I clear things up, RPHL are deeply apologetic and have gotten a few members to talk to me, so I shall be unbanning there modification and i would like you all to give em a chance again I suppose. Cannot let one rouge member mess things up for such a promising mod

I like the attitude of that guy from RPA, he knew what was done was bad and he accepted it. If the ban weren't to be lifted the mod will have taken it's punishment
