I was just asking, because when you make a new Mod it will show a list of Platforms that your Mod will/is on. Some of them were consoles like the PS3 and Xbox360. Can you make Mods with these? Because I want try and see if I can make a Custom Zombie Map on Black Ops and I don't feel like buying an extra copy... |

The only moddable console game at present is Unreal Tournament 3 on the Playstation 3. |

In game level editor != moddable; since you cannot modify anything or introduce any new content, just rearrange existing presets. (Halo series, Timesplitters also include these kinds of things) UT3 allows code changes, new assets etc. It has nasty memory limitations, but theoretically you could get a total conversion up and running on the Ps3. |

Totally agreed.
Yeah, personally, played LBP with friends but never seen a level editor in action. O.o Should have asked them about this next time, was pretty convinced that new assets (graphics etc) can be imported to the game. |

Only via the PlaystationEye or in-game content creation. Some people have managed to use glitches or great know-how to make third person shooters (and even one FPS) in LBP2, but it takes a lot of work just to get one level of that kind of caliber running. I would really like to hear about an UT3 convo for the PS3 though, that would make me actually buy a copy. Especially if it were Star Wars themed, like one UT mod was. |

It's unlikely to happen - there's very little memory left after UT3 is loaded, so the number of new assets you'll find space for is pretty small. |

I think that though being able to jailbreak and place mods right on the fly would be possible, there is not much use for them in game. You could argue that most mods are not that useful anyway but it would be different with the Sony PS3 as you just would not expect them to ride on the bandwagon and let the games be as open like how they are on the PC. |

Well, IMHO, mods can change the game tremendously, whether it's purely balance, game mechanics, or just for extended enjoyment (ie mods as map packs etc). Mods simply prolong the fun with the game. Little Big Planet profits from level editor and custom levels pretty much, it could be the same with modding support on PS3. Yeah, but after all, as you said, it seems one wouldn't expect Sony to allow that. |

I should point out that in many cases, console games use different file formats and entirely native code. This would prevent people making mods - UT3 was only viable as Epic released tools to convert packages into a Ps3 readable format. |

Supposedly you can minorly mod Fallout and Borderlands on consoles, but it's barely comparable to even LBP. There's also a JRPG series that let you import your own textures for in-game characters... but it was one of the more pervy JRPGs. |
