Hey there! Welcome to this week's roundup of the YouTube, where we covered two gameplay overhauls and kicked off the 20th Anniversary of ModDB!
Monday - Playthrough - Vengeance of the Blood Ravens
Dawn of War II might not be quite as moddable as its predecessors, but that rarely stops dedicated modders! Vengeance of the Blood Ravens transforms Dawn of War II and expands the game's scope, delivering on many of the points original DOW fans missed in the sequel, and polishing those elements newer fans loved too.
This month marks the 20th Anniversary of ModDB, dating all the way back to 2002 when the Mod Database was first founded by Scott Reismanis. To celebrate, we're currently running an event allowing users to decide some of the top mods in the site's history. Five videos will release at the end of the event showcasing these winners, and we gave the event a nice kickoff video to set the scene! This is also why the IndieDB video last week was delayed by an extra day, so that the Wednesday kickoff slot wouldn't contradict with the Indie short.
Thursday - Shorts - Gamedec
We all love a good RPG, and cyberpunk is very much in vogue right now - and the two put together? Well, add an isometric perspective and a meta-narrative themed around gaming and investigating cybercrime, and you've got Gamedec - an indie adventure after our hearts that does everything it can to immerse you in a grim, techno setting.
Friday - Playthrough - Brutal Half-Life
Half-Life's a game already rife with action and a healthy dose of comedic violence, but there's no shortage of desire for even more of both - and so enters Brutal Half-Life, a mod taking after the Brutal DOOM lineage in producing a more vicious telling of the Black Mesa incident with an emphasis on player skill.
That's all for this round-up. What do you think about the mods listed? Feel free to discuss below and check out the YouTube for more videos past, present, and future!
