The World
Caerus is an enormous world of immense and diverse beauty. Its once massive super-continent was recently torn asunder by a magical apocalypse that has left Caerus reeling like a wounded animal, and the face of the globe has changed forever. The devastation tore the landmass into five large continents, and dotted the majestic but treacherous oceans with hundreds of islands. Endless waves threaten to dash any who brave their waters against jagged reefs and submerged mountain peaks. Brutally powerful storms ravage both land and sea, while the world itself trembles with earthquakes, as if trying to shake off the agony of a near-fatal wound.
Still, Caerus whispers of hope and opportunity to those who survived the apocalypse. Life has begun to adapt to the extreme climates caused by the world's new axis, cautiously emerging from beneath the plumes of smoke and ash that have blanketed the skies for years. As the dust settles, survivors find themselves in a very different, but still elegantly beautiful world, as new life arises from the still-warm embers of old.
The northern tip of the globe leans eternally away from the warmth of the sun and suffers bitterly cold, endless winds and short daylight hours, while the southern side of the planet blisters and burns under a furnace sky, only gaining reprieve for a few hours each day. Meanwhile, the central part of the globe enjoys a delightful mix of sunlight and shade and its weather is far more gentle, with a full range of seasons - albeit with unpredictable storm systems.
