In anticipation of its official release, The Nameless Mod's Lawrence Laxdal sat down with Noesis Interactive to talk about developing the total conversion for Deus Ex and the rocky road to completion. The Nameless Mod has been a huge undertaking, including 59 levels and 13,000 lines of recorded voice acting!
NOTE: The release date mentioned in the video has since been postponed. Look for The Nameless Mod to release sometime in February 2009.

Bout time you guys showed up on ModDBTV ;) Grats guys.
Thanks! I wish I hadn't mentioned that release date...but it WAS a couple months ago. No matter, actual release is approaching with great speed.
I can't believe there is a new training mission :o
Is it different to the DX training? When I get it should I just start a new game?
It's different than the original training mission, yes - we don't really aim to teach you how to play Deus Ex because we assume you've at least played the original game a little. Our training mission is an introduction to some of the major things we've changed about the game, just to sort of update you on the feature differences between DX and TNM.
Like in Deus Ex though, if you try to start a new game before playing the training, you'll get a pop-up advicing you to give the training a shot before you start ;)
brings back memory's of the original game. Im looking forward to it.
Looks great, im'a download this sucker the moment it comes out ;)
I <3 Noesis Interviews, very informative!
Looks great
I was 11 when Deus Ex came out. Glad to see it's still alive in some form. Hopefully I can find the disks so I can try this mod out when it's released.
you guys have done a lot of work. and the engine seems to be difficult with regards to story dynamics. I liked the aquarium, it looks neat. but the ballistics look under developed from the looks of the video. can you do somthing more in that area in a future release? everything else looks cool. the models look clear and well textured. and the indoors invironments look awesome. cant wait to try it in full. :)
We're pretty limited by the engine in the way of physics and ballistics, unfortunately. However, we think the voice acting, models, story, music, and all the other content that we *were* able to improve on will make up for it :-)
I am going to buy it to save bandwidth. How much was it again 1 gig?
By the way, as a producer was it expensive to develop TNM?
i'll defenitly be giving this mod a good play.
Beautiful interview - I was glued throughout! So proud of you guys :D
It'll be about 850mb to download. Expenses are hard to measure, we did spend a lot of money on web hosting and a few other things, but we also had a lot of generous donations from people that mostly offset the costs.
i heard its really difficult to mod Deus Ex. wiki actually has a section that explains how enoying it is xD
i would love to see sombody use crysis or source engine to recreate Deus ex, or improve on it.
I think the primary reason DX is such a bitch to mod is that the gameplay is very detailed and ambitious, and most modders feel compelled to live up to that. When modding DX, you feel compelled to create the same sort of open, naturalistic level design, and support all the game's mechanics (hacking and lockpicking, stealth, all-out combat, diplomacy and negotiation, etc.) and you end up sinking quite a lot of time into it.
Holy crap 7 years! This mod might just be the best I've ever played! Can't wait till it comes out! :P
It's definitely had the proper time to stew, and we think it brings out all the right flavours :D
Good interview. :) Managing people is no small task indeed.
Oh man, this is going to be awesome. I've been following this mod for a long time! :)
Thanks guys! Things are speeding towards the finish line, we're basically just waiting on a few actors to turn in their recordings of the last couple of characters.
