While we all know that the Aperture Science turret can be a royal pain, and constantly will shoot at you, and may cause death. At Incandescence, we have "Turret Closets", a Turret-Friendly testing apparatus.
What is a Turret Closet?
A Turret Closet is a testing apparatus in which it can pacify a turret, and allow it to become a friendly turret. A good example of the Closet in action is with opening a door. Say you had an exit door, a turret, and a Turret Closet. Taking the turret off the ground and having it fall over, and just leave it there won't be such a good idea, as the turret (Despite it saying "No hard feelings.") won't think of you too positively, and the exit door will not open. However, if you are kindhearted enough to place it into a Turret Closet, you will give the turret a placid nature, and it will thank you for doing so. Afterwards, the exit door will open, allowing you to progress to the next testing chamber.
What would happen if you knocked the turret over, or vaporized/incinerated it?
Since the Portal Gun's object pickup script encourages it to use the "Preferred Carrying Angles", even if a turret is knocked over, it can still be pacified in a Turret Closet. If it were to be incinerated or vaporized, then a replacement turret will be provided.
What good could this possibly do for anyone in a puzzle?
Think of Aperture Science's Test Chamber 16, with all those turrets. Now, instead of simply knocking them over, Turret Closets could come in handy, as you could knock them over, then place them in the closets, opening the exit door.
