GOG has brought Bethesda back into the limelight with a sale on all their titles. You don't need us to tell you how serious a part modding plays in most of Bethesda's biggest games - hell, we've already done that a whole bunch of times in various editorials covering some of the best our community has to offer - so we'll cut to the chase and line-up some of the best deals and a mod for each to sweeten the pot!

Game: Diablo: £6.59 GBP/$7.99 USD

Mod: Diablo The Awakening

By Noktis

Diablo: The Awakening is a continuation of the Diablo story, showing us the further fate of the world of Sanctuary, after Baal has been killed and the Worldstone destroyed. The main changes Awake makes are adding new monsters/bosses, spells, new quests, normal items and unique items. In addition, values of prefixes and suffixes has been modified, the difficulty of the game has increased, and a few bugs that were present in Diablo 1 were fixed. Not to be missed is refinements to co-operative gameplay and EXP sharing to encourage digging in to Diablo with a friend.

Game: Heroes of Might & Magic V: £4.19 GBP/$4.99 USD

Mod: Heroes 5 Tactical Duel Map

This mod for Might & Magic V was created with a few goals in mind - Invite casual players to discover the fun of heroes combat against other players and create a game mode that would be fulfilling but not take hours to enjoy. The map has since gone through numerous iterations and eventually jumped from 3.1 to its current rebalanced form. The idea has been to make all tactics as equally viable as possible, expanding on the balance of the base game's sandbox.

Thus far, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been the last entry in the series, and the Blood and Wine expansion is its most recent in its story. Whilst both do a good job at wrapping up many of the plot threads implied throughout the trilogy, Geralt’s romance options and the ultimate fate of his love life remains up in the air. This mod goes with Geralt’s broadly canonical love interest - Yennefer - and using Witcher 3 assets, creates an epilogue within Witcher 2’s engine. With the return of many iconic characters and new combat setpieces, this mod is a great send-off to Geralt’s character.

Game: Deus Ex: £0.69 GBP/$0.84 USD

Mod: Vanilla? Madder.

By WCCC

Phase 1.75: Appearance Presets/Save Slots

Vanilla? Madder AKA VMD or VMD Sim is a Deus Ex vanilla conversion focused heavily on RPG and roleplay elements, immersive sim gameplay, modernization/QOL, and more. Skill trees, hunger/stress/smell systems, in depth character customization, status effects from foods, and so much more are included. It also boasts the ability to run with almost any mod, and, in the future, will be able to be used as a near-universal starting point for any total conversion.

Game: Fallout 2: £2.00 GBP/$2.42 USD

Mod: Fallout 1.5: Resurrection

A new old school Fallout game - that's Fallout 1.5: Resurrection, a mod for Fallout 2. The player’s character wakes up, heavily wounded in a dark cave, not knowing how they got there, or who they are. Starting from scratch the player has to search for their forgotten past, with a mysterious talisman as the only clue. The world is still chaotic, with only small independent communities, connected only by trade relations. It’s an unfriendly place, where the law is on the side of whoever has the biggest gun.

There's our picks for five games and mods from the GOG Spring Sale, which kicked off on March 23rd and concludes on April 3rd. With a week left to go there's plenty more classics to peruse (some of which have been a fixture of our editorials before), and many more mods to try.
