Global thermonuclear war. The only result is Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD): The idea that everybody dies, nobody wins. Maybe you can lose the least, when the bombs take to the air. But for sure, you can win a copy of this awesome game.

Watch as the world grows dark.

I could sit here and tell you how awesome Defcon is. Really, I've played it nonstop since the review copy hit my desk earlier this week and it couldn't be sweeter. Is there anything cooler than watching the world blow to pieces around you?

Of course there is: Being able to do so free of charge.

What do you have to do to win a copy of this game? Really, not much at all. Next Friday, less than a week away from today, Defcon officially launches on Steam. But the day before it does, we are going to give away three copies of this awesome game to any of you who post in THIS thread.

Yes, that's right. All you have to do to win is post in that thread. Sound easy? It really is. If you comment, your name will go into a hat to be randomly drawn upon on Thursday, September the 28th.

But that in itself would be too easy, so there is a catch here. Since we have three copies of the game to give out, we are going to have three different raffles. If you comment on the thread, your name goes into Hat A. If you want to get your name put into Hat's B and C as well, then you need to create a piece of ModDB or Defcon promo material. Make a drawing, photoshop a picture, link to either site on your home page and send us a picture, write a story, anything. Be creative, I know you can do it. Promote Defcon in some way, post it in the thread, and you get into Hat B. Promote ModDB in some way, post it in the thread, and you get into Hat C.

You can do one of the above or all of them. I don't really care which. If you do all three (make sure to make three separate posts!), then you get entered into all three drawings. If you only do one, your name only goes into one. It's that simple. It'd also be nice if you specify which entry your post is trying to qualify for, but I guess we can't force you to be nice.

So let the bombardment begin!

Three little hats, all in a line...

As the night stretched ever longer, I sat up late, waiting for the clock to move another fraction of an inch. Already I had spent a half hour cutting out names, searching for hats, reloading the thread page, and hoping against hope that there wouldn't be too many last minute entries to throw into the hat, so maybe I could go to bed before the crack of dawn.

When I locked the thread down, we probably had about 150 entries, if not more, to select from. And who won?

Our prize winner, taken from at least a hundred entries, picked randomly from a Mickey Mouse Fantasia hat bought from Disneyland itself, was Moddb Regular Ambershee.

Next up, the winner of the random Defcon Promotional Materials drawing, taken from a baseball cap purchased at Walgreens for less than $5, was Rik-the-Viking, who's promotional material can be seen here: Users.pandora.be

Finally, the last winner, the person chosen from the ModDB Promotional materials section, was armanguy, for pimping our site and contest in this outside thread: Forums.jurassic-rage.com

Had this picture actually turned out, you could see Ambershee's name there, as our first winner.

After receiving so many entries and actually having the people from Introversion Software asking me if they could host some of their favorite pieces of promotional material on their website, I finally begged and pleaded and received two more copies of the game to reward to the two best submissions in the entire thread!
