History of JA2 and the Stracciatella project in brief:

  • 1999 - Jagged Alliance 2 was released. It is still regarded as one of the best turn-based strategy titles ever made. No true sequel to the game that can even roughly reach it's high standards has been created as of today.
  • 2004 - The sourcecode for JA2 was released. The sourcecode is the basis for the JA2 Stracciatella project and many other great mods.
  • 2006 - JA2 Stracciatella was started by Tron and run by him solo for a loooong time.
  • 2013 - gennady breathed new life into the project and started "JA2 Stracciatella continued".
  • 2016 - The team behind JA2 Stracciatella is regrouping and the project has moved to GitHub: a lot is happening right now and lots of progress is being made. Let's see where the future will get JA2 and Stracciatella! Visit The mod's homepage for more information:

- Added support for high video resolutions. For example, game can be started in 1024x768 mode like this: ja2.exe -res 1024x768. Any reasonable resolution should work.
- Added compilation instructions for building the project on Linux, Windows, Mac OS 10.6 - 10.8, cross building on Linux for Windows.
- Added solution files for Visual Studio 10 Express, Xcode 4.2, 4.6


- Single exe can now work with many versions (localizations) of the game. There is no need anymore to compile binary for every version of the game.
- There is no need anymore to lower-case game resources on Linux.
