This mod replaces many of the combat related sounds in the game. It replaces weapon drawing/sheathing sounds, swishing sounds, hitting sound and more. The sound when a weapon hit armor is particularly cool. It sound like something hitting metal, not fl
Prepare for a better combat experience! This is a sound replacement pack for Oblivion's default combat sounds.
And also, for those of you using SkyCaptain's Deadly Reflex mod, I haven't forgotten you guys; I also uploaded a separate file with replacement sounds for Deadly Reflex, too.
Be sure to read the ReadMe in each .zip file.
And also, because of the drastic switch between different sounds, put in about 10 to 15 minutes of gameplay for break-in.
Oblivion Combat Sounds Replacement
Well, as I'm sure most of you know, the default combat sounds were too weak and subtle. It seems that Bethesda decided to try for subtlety in ALL of their sounds actually: footsteps, physics, etc. This is a very serious disservice to the game, especially in combat, which is NOT supposed to be soft, NOT supposed to be a whisper, and above all, NOT supposed to be subtle. Alot of the sounds were so soft, that I did not even know they existed!
This sound replacement pack should address all these issues, and not only that, it will also make combat a more realistic and satisfying experience.
You know that sound when you hit someone with a blade? It was a weak, hollow, scratching sound. It was as if you were scratching a wet mattress with a metal drum or something. It's gone. Now it's a more awesome sound of your blade searing through your victim's flesh. More appropriate.
This pack replaces:
*Drawing and sheathing sounds for all weapons, enchanted and normal
*Swishing sounds for all weapons
*Sounds for weapons hitting the environment and creatures (Primary Hitting Sounds), enchanted and normal
*Body falling sounds for light, medium, and heavy masses
*Weapon hitting sounds for light and heavy armor (Secondary Hitting Sounds)
*Weapon hitting sounds for bones, flesh, and fur (Secondary Hitting Sounds)
Primary Hitting Sounds are the sounds that play when you hit a creature or the environment. It plays all the time.
Secondary Hitting Sounds are the sounds that play along with the Primary Hitting Sounds if conditions apply. For example, if you shot a disgusting, oversized rat in the head with an arrow (I'm perfectly okay with that) you hear the primary sound of an arrow hitting flesh, and because you shot a creature with fur, you hear the secondary sound of fur damage, too. If you struck a pompous guard captain in the chest with your katana (I'm not saying you did), you hear the primary sound of your blade cutting flesh, and because the guard captain is wearing heavy armor, the secondary sound of heavy armor damage is heard, too. If you cut some pitiful beggar, you only hear the primary sound of blade cutting flesh because the beggar isn't wearing any armor and isn't covered in fur. Get the idea now?
Sounds Replacement Deadly Reflex
SkyCaptain's Deadly Reflex mod is one of the greatest combat enhancement mods for Oblivion. However, I found that the sounds that came with it were
a little disappointing. Hazy sound quality, exaggerated screams, watery and unrealistic...it just sorted of made the violence kind of laughable. Pity that such awesomeness becomes debased by inferior sound...
Well say good-bye to that because it's all about to change!
This is a sound replacement for SkyCaptain's Deadly Reflex mod! Every single sound has been replaced with a better, more gruesome one!
When you blow some poor ill-begotten NPC to smithereens with the EnemiesExplode spell, gone are the funny screaming and popping sounds; NOW when you demolish someone this way, the sound of their bones and ligaments ripping and separating fill the air, their screams of pain are too great to leave their throat...and then, they die with a spectacular sound of exploding flesh and rain of blood! Your heart will throb in great enjoyment...music to your sick, twisted, and eager soul!
And now, when your body is gripped with rage and you decapitate or even cut your victim in half, you can hear the the clear sound of your beating heart and then THE SOUND OF YOUR BLADE CLEAVING THROUGH THEIR FLESH and their arteries weakly crying out streams of blood! Sends chills of SATISFACTION throughout all the nerves in your body!
Your DeadlyReflex experience will never be the same again!
The reason why I did not add screaming to the exploding sounds is because I discovered that you can cast the EnemeiesExplode spell on dead bodies. Screaming corpses? Not possible.
Feel free to criticize the hell out of me as you see fit.
