2. Run VK2023_PLAY.bat

Does this version update the separate Units Sub-mod or do I have to download that one as well if I wanted those units?
It doesn't, submod by aspiringneetgamer is great, but incompatible with the update.
The mod would probably work if you applied the unit submod but it would nullify all the changes.

Is there a way to play during an earlier start date than 1236/whatever's in the mod? I like when I have to play for a bit before unlocking big rosters, while in this mod a lot of stuff is available from the get-go :(
There is alternative 1200 campaign, you can try that and avoid factions starting with a big fortress (e.g. Spain, France, England).
Either way there is a lot to build/unlock as progression is more gradual than in vanilla.

Downloaded the file and it came with an Internet Explorer symbol. Tried opening it only for the window to instantly close. I'm not technical, so don't know what's happening or how to fix it
Use free programs 7zip or Winrar to unpack it
Downloaded the mod, unzipped with WinRaR to my desktop. Then I took all the files (except for the optional borderless window file) and placed them in the Medieval II/mods folder. Ran the file as stated above and it is saying I placed the files in the incorrect location. Are some files supposed to be in different areas?
Simply put the whole vanilla_kingdoms_2023 into mods folder (alongside america, crusades etc. folders), then run it.
I'm having some problems that I didn't have on the previous version or any other mod of the game: Maybe anyone knows wwhy this is happening, I'm modding into the game surnames for the royal families and I tried first with France by making the royal family have the Capet surname to them, but when I try the campaign all family members appear with Cape surname, missing the "T" in the end
I can't download it, the browser detects a virus
Turn off your anti-virus software then start the download. There's no virus, it just does that. I was having issues with mine with other mods and I finally figured it out.

Hello! Thanks for your job and keep it going! Have you got any plans to add special abilities to your mod (for example, from the Crusades campaign: the ability of Richard the Lionheart “Heart of the Lion”, Saladin’s ability “Righteousness of Faith“ and the others)? I think it would be great to add these abilities to some starting faction leaders or faction heirs! And one more question: are you planning to add some more settlements to your mod?
Mod spans 400 years so it wouldn't fit the gameplay if only starting generals had abilities.

I can't start the mod. For some reason it tells me that it can't find the MTW2 or kingdoms executables and that maybe I put the mod in the wrong folder even though I put it in the mods folder. I don't know what to do.

Hi there! It is cool game but a can`t set a password when using multiplayer campaign (I install retrofit mod). I set a password option before game but it doesn`t work and after the end of the turn, I am immediately transferred to the faction of the second player, and there must be a password so that I cannot play for the faction of the second player

yo bro why can i not use my keyboard arrows during a battle? also you reversed A and D so i just cant even rotate my camera during battle
Because arrow keys are barbaric, that's why.

Why i cant start earlier grand 1200 campaign? Game crashes
Launch the mod and go straight into the 1200 menu and play.
Jumping between custom battles/main campaign causes it (hardcored issue due to too many factions).
