Radical changes to the Q3 AI so the bots grapple, and use all the weapons including the turret gun.
The culmination of about 12 years of work. This was most difficult to achieve. There was no released code that made sense, and no code to go by besides the original q3 tutorials. Expert Q3 has my gratitude, but wasn't usable code... it did serve to motivate me, because I loved the way the bots grappled. It was the final push I needed.
The bots now grapple, but in a balanced way, relative to the other weapons. Although I have noticed an unexpected ferocity when after a player/bot with the flag in CTF.
So in a nutshell, the bots now use all the Pwrweaps weapons, including the turret gun. They will use the grapple as a weapon the majority of the time. There is more to it, but this is the server side release. The rest, a few small. but I think significant, changes to the engine side of the bot AI will be released on sourceforge.net as well as the code for this mod. Where no other mod besides Expert CTF has released bot grappling code, I feel it is necessary to share my work instead of keeping it a secret. I hope others will be able to build on my success.
As a side note, this is somewhat experimental. But it seems to be working as expected.
Hello, do you still have the source code for this, or would you be willing to make a version for OpenArena, instead of Quake3?
