Version 1.5 of Tsardoms has now been released. This is the most stable version of Tsardoms to date (most bugs and CTDs fixed) and includes a host of changes and gameplay tweaks which will make the mod more enjoyable (new ancillary system, major AI reworks, a tonne of new historical characters, events, scripts and more).
We are proud to announce the next version of Tsardoms Total War. This version is NOT savegame compatible and will require a brand new mod installation.
Installation
- Download the mod
- Unpack the mod in the Mods folder of your Medieval 2 Total War folder using the installer. PLEASE ENSURE YOU UNPACK IN THE MODS FOLDER NOT THE MAIN MEDIEVAL 2 FOLDER
- Alternative torrent download
CURRENLY NOT AVAILABLE (will be back soon)
- Steam installation: follow the same instructions as above, than go into Steam right click on the Medieval 2 Kingdoms game, go to Properties, then go to Set Launch Options and replace what is there with the following --features.mod=mods/Tsardoms_beta-1.5
Basically for Steam the actual name of the Tsardoms folder and executable file must be there
Patch Notes
Here is a small summary:
- the UI crash linked to right clicking on buildings has been fixed
- the crash which was fixed in the latest hotfix related to the recruitment has been fixed
- hopefully the bug with the insta death of the Byzantines and the Kantakouzenos at the same time has been fixed. We think this happened when the faction leader and heir died at the same time. We have enhanced the family trees of all the noble Byzantine families so there should now be plenty of heirs preventing this insta death to happen
- a major rework of the AI which will make the AI factions a lot more aggressive and active. They will no longer just stay within their territory
- more aggressive rebels which will actually attack your armies
- VINC's new ancillaries based on historical characters which will appear at historical times in specific settlements
- there will be a host of new historical characters spawned for Venice, Genoa, Milan, Austria, Hungary and others
- a new famous Condottiere event (Alberico Barbiano) in Italy for Milan and Naples
- a corruption script which will severely hit the player's economy if their treasury is higher than 30,000
- the spawned rebel armies scripts (Hussite Wars, Polish invasion, Lithuanian invasion) will now only happen if the player controls the affected faction. This was previously an issue as the AI could not handle those invasions and was actually
- the Savoyard Crusade will hit Bulgaria in 1366 with the Green Prince Amadeus of Savoy invading Nesebar and Varna
- a rework of the Ottoman unit availability which will reduce the rate of Janissary recruitment and aim towards more historical number of janissaries in armies (historically they were about 15% of Ottoman armies) and more forced use of lower tier azaps and yayas
- a reduction in the Timurid armies (experience and number reduced) due to the fact that the AI can not handle them as well as the player and they cripple the Ottomans
- a tweak in unhappiness due to religion
- a new colonial building for Genoa, Venice and Ragusa to help them hold on to colonies with high foreign religions
- new raider script and a spawned fleet script added
Good mod, unfortunatly i can't play it because the crashes during battles are far to many. I've lowered the grass details and the vegetation, model textures but nothing. Anyone know a fix for this?"
Tried patching the executable to allow it to use more than 2gb of ram? That usually takes care of it in most instances when running large mods.
Hmmm. And how do i do that?
Gamepressure.com file 4 GB Patch,a(n) strategy game.&text=4 GB Patch is a mod for Medieval II: Total,of The End Times Team.
Alternatively this should also work: Ntcore.com
when will the release of the latest version sir?
This is the latest version, it's just been launched
Very nice mod, well historically researched, enjoyed playing it for two days, but is stopped working. Simply, won't load beyond the introductory campaign map any more. After couple of seconds the message appears: "Sorry pal, something gone wrong". There was even the message: "Installed under wrong folder", although I installed it in "Mods" folder and played it just fine for two days.
Now, reinstalling it for the second time.
Nope. Doesn't load any more.
One of the most beautiful mods ever made. It is a mode that requires a lot of thought and effort. I personally thank everyone who worked hard to make this mod. It would be nice if generals who are not members of the dynasty automatically marry and continue their lineage to make the mod better. Thus, the noble lineage of these generals for the state could continue. It would be nice for the lords to get married before entering the dynasty. In the Ottoman Empire, raiding commanders such as Malkoçoğulları and Turahanoğulları Paşayiğitoğulları were missing, they could be completed. Personally, most importantly, the ability to continue the lineage of other noble lords for all nations except the dynasty can make the game much more enjoyable in future rounds. I hope this mod is discovered and valued by more people. :)
Thank you for the comment. Will add the Ottoman commanders you mentioned. The generals that have noble house ancillary now also have a hidden family tree and for most factions that start off married so they should be able to have children. Also you can marry them using princesses trained from your capital if needed.
Brethren who made this mod.
I have waited for this mod for years.
And you did not dissapoint considering you work essentially for free and of your own spare time.
Is there some way i can support you via patreon or something?
And thank you for making a balkan history buffs year lighten up.
Now excuse me.
Serbia cant be calmed.
And i mean literally those Vlastela are true bastards.
*Supremacy achieved*
Vlastela: *Builds their own churches*
Nemanjic dynasty: Yo bro whatcha doin?
Mrnjavcevic dynasty: Execute order 1389
Mrnjavcevic dynasty wasn't important at all in 1389. their representative was Turkish vassal. They weren't important since 1371. Check your facts.
Be silent Merops dog
Couple things from playing Florence and Bavaria so far.
Florence doesn’t have recruitable princesses in its capital anymore. I recruited a princess as Bavaria but can’t marry her off to one of the noble houses. Not sure if there’s a mechanic I’m missing or if it’s intentional.
Florence is a republic, it does not have family trees or princesses.
For the other factions you can only marry princesses to nobles that have family trees and are not married. Most of the nobles start as married to make sure their lines don't die. So its likely you need to wait for them to have unmarried children i n order to marry princesses to them.
Ohh I see, thx for the clarification
Hello I was playing your 2.0 version on my old computer no problem. Now on my new computer when I start the game it reverts back to the original Total Medieval game. Any suggestions on how to get it to work?
Will France be in the game at any point?
Keep up the great work!
Most underrated mod to date
So, I'm playing as the Romans and have reduced the Kantakouzenos to 2 provinces, build the large pronoia in the City, and my leader is in the City too. The enemy emperor is still alive, my original patriarch died and his replacement is in the City too. My emperor has the Roman Emperor trait and I have enough money to pay for the coronation but the event doesn't fire no matter how many turns I wait. Why, please help!?
Anyways, amazing work guys!
I think the Kantakouzenos need to be destroyed
Oh, ok then, It was just that, in the start of the campaign, It said that they need to have less than 3 provinces. If they need to be destroyed, it would be a good idea to change the event's text
I think the starting text talks about the reunification not the coronation
Then why didn't we get reunified? Also I managed to conquer them but still there was no coronation
No idea
In case no one noticed, there's a bug: Pre-battle speeches as Wallachia are not working, no voice sound.
The majority of the structures in Central European huge cities, including the gatehouses, are black. Is this normal?
Nope. Sounds like a bug
What does rwm cleaner.bat do?
When I download the file, I get the message "unknown format or damaged file". Any suggestions? Win10 and WinRar used.
Problem solved. Used 7 zip.

helloo, great mod, i finished an ottoman campaign, took me over 200 turns, on very hard, hard. some crashes in battles here and there, just had to skip certain battles or autoresolve them and it was fine, the best mod ive played, right up there with SS 6.4, even better i would say, i would like to play a new campaign but it took so long to get gunpowder units, could you release a mini mod which simply starts the game at a later date? or have the events happen sooner by increasing turn times, but still have the character age at the same rate?
We are dreaming of doing a late campaign starting in 1448. But the amount of work is huge. It will take probably at least a year to do all of the research as we are a very small team.
I have a problem, the game only starts without any sound
I regret to say it but there is a big problem with CTD. I started a Bavarian campaign and after the 20ish turn, the crashes became frequent. I started to create saves every year as a backup and it worked for a while. But after turn 72, I couldn't go any further, no matter which savegame I was loading.
Can you please upload your log from the Logs folder? Upload it straight after a crash. You can put it on google drive, mega.co.nz, Dropbox etc and put the link here. Its very important in order to locate the issue
PMed the save game. Thank you :)
your music submod is not working, i copied the files and ran the exe and it doesnt work. i went to your twcenter page and tried the link there but it doesnt work.
Yes, there is an issue with music submod. Not sure what it is
Whatever I do, it says i got the mod probably installed in the wrong folder (cannot find M2TW executable) but i didnt installed it in the wrong folder, its in the mod folder, NOT the main one. Dont know whats wrong

I can't start free campaign. when i choose faction and click next it takes me back to the campaign selection menu. And also when i choose main campaign it crashes.
The free campaign is outdated. We have not updated it for many versions and will not work.
The main campaign should work with no issues. What message do you get when it crashes? Do you use steam? how are you launching the game?
Thanks for enlightening.
I got a mesagge that says like "ops, something got wrong". But i noteiced this only occurs if i try to start the free campaign first. So my problems are solved, thanks

Sooo the mod starts and plays fine with no crashes or bugs
but when i am in the main menu it has the standard med2 background ( blue with the soldiers ) but the options ( campaing , multiplayer etc.) and the upper and lower parts of the menu retain the tsardoms style.
Is that an issue? have i done something wrong or is this how it works ?
( note: gameplay and the rest of the game is fine)
It's not supposed to look like that. But i heard people getting that screen, i think it depends on how you launch the mod. For steam users the mod needs to be launched using set launch options and putting the link there for the mod folder. As in the instructions.
But when you play the game it's exactly the same. Just the menu is different.
