A new release of The Great Work containing updates, fixes, and a few translations.
Here is the long-awaited version 1.4 of the Great Work! This version includes many big fixes and updates, and also the inclusion of Spanish, Polish, and Dutch translations! I tried to get more languages, but unfortunately just couldn't get anyone willing to do all that work. I still may release more translations in the future though!
These are some of the updates you can expect with this release:
--Removed unnecessary monsters. There were a few places where I noticed people were just not getting scared, mostly because there were too many monsters too close together. I removed some of them to level out the tension a bit.
--Rescripted the story branching in chapter 4. The way you get to the Reliquary was buggy and unreliable, so I redid almost everything there.
--Touched up the Mithraeum so the central chamber isn't so boring. Made the "victory scene" a bit more climactic.
--Removed the confusing ending where you wake up in prison. It didn't make any sense to anyone but me. Now, if you get killed before obtaining the Orb, you respawn like normal.
--The notorious bug where the Brute in chapter 2 freezes you in place and you don't unfreeze has been fixed.
--Added in a few more hints for the really hard puzzles: the candle puzzle, the falling statue, and the cabal chains, for example. Slightly simplified one or two frustrating puzzles that didn't need to be so difficult.
--Fixed minor bugs and errors, such as missing lighting, flickering textures, and music not transitioning at the proper time. I also removed an extra hammer and chipper set (I leave them around maps while testing, and occasionally forget to remove them)
--Made the story flow smoother. Added a note or two to make the backstory a little easier to understand, and made sure the player doesn't miss any spoken dialogue.
If anyone has any big problems with this update (non-working scripts or enemies, duplicate items), please let me know ASAP!
I just reinstalled Amnesia and was thinking "What CS should I play?" and you came with an update! So, guess what CS will I be playing? :D

I'm stuck and need help. I am in the basement at the end of the story where the flow, tri, and four cycle rods are needed in the machine (right after the room with the pedestals for the shards). I insert all of the rods and turn the machine on, then return to the pedestal room but there are only 3 pedestals... Shouldn't there be more? I can't flip the switch because it says not all shards are in place, yet I have no more pedestals to place shards. Is this a bug?
The missing pedestal is lying in one of the adjoining rooms. You have to grab it and put it in the correct spot.
Ok i'm just a little aggravated not sure if story problem or my files but when I'm supposed to get to chapter 3:clocks when going through the exit i'm somewhere else completely It's playing something else(custom story wise)I've uninstalled and re-installed and I've also restarted but nothing is fixing this i can't play chapter 3 it's so annoying, please get back to me soon.
Check to see if the map you're getting sent to has the same map name as the one you should be getting sent to. The game searches for the map in alphabetical order, so if you have two maps of the same name, it will select the one higher up on the list of custom stories.
I hoped to avoid this by putting numbers in front of all my map names, so it might be a different problem. It happened to me though when I got sent to a "prison.map" of a different custom story instead of the "prison.map" of the correct one.

how i install this mod?
Just unzip directly into the "custom_stories" folder, and you can play it from the Amnesia menu.

Does anyone else get the bug where in the last chapter, the orb falls onto an inaccessible ledge in the chamber? I've tried exiting and re-entering the room, but the orb just respawns underneith the rubble and I still can't reach it

I extracted every single thing but there's nothing in the "old jeff stuff" folder and I used the 4th (final ver. for Amnesia The Great Work) version download and when I got to the Library, there were no words on the part where I picked up the key, nor got to the rock with the pipe/metal bar/tube in it (spoiler) and i kept picking up notes but there's no words! What do I do?? Please help!

I have sighted a bug, when I encounter grunt first time, I have to run through rooms, and one of them are brighter, then I find a desk with a key. When I pick this key, this one disappears, also, i had checked the inventory, no key there...
There are a lot of bugs and crashes, even if this mod was updated... I am trying to combine inventory elements... game crashes... I am trying to find a way out through sanctum - nothing, torches are placed incorrectly, some of them levitating in air and some of them in wall. Yes, you did a Great Work, but I'm sorry to say that there are a lot of undone things.
does this CS have jump scares I really want a good CS that has some.
Ok, I'm having a similar problem to a few mentioned above here and I've identified what it is that we're experiencing:
AMNESIA MULTIVERSE CONVERGENCE!
You see, when we get to the library, it is actually the map from "The Fugitive- Part 2"! Also the lack of words when you pick up the key, and when you go back out through the front doors of the library, you're in the city from the fugitive, right?
So uh...how do we fix that?

This happens when when two maps have the same file name, and the game chooses the wrong one from the directory.
I would change the name of the incorrect map temporarily, until you get past that part, then you can change it back.

So I got to the water segment in Chapter 3, got past it, climbed up the crawlspace in the ceiling, dropped down, and got permanently stuck in a slow-crawl mode. So I exit the game to try to clear it, and there's no option for me to continue the story, only start over after about 3 hours of playtime. Yea. Lost interest for the time being, absolutely killed my enjoyment of this. Otherwise, great work.
