Change log link doesn't work, moddb says the article is awaiting approval.

That's because the article it links to is still awaiting approval. Patience.

I'm sorry, but it took two hours between download and changelog upload.

Besides, isn't it kinda standard to either include a changelog in the download page, or a .txt in the download itself?

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

No. The news post containing the changelog was posted four hours before the download. However, the ModDB admins took longer to approve the former, hence why it wasn't available when the download was authorised.

Just played a game as Germany. Some minor things added, including a 3v3 map, but no, no french as far as i've seen.

The French won't be included before several months.

Also, version 2.0 is when the French will be introduced. Version labelled 1.x will all be balance changes of the existing factions.

Hey,

I know it won't be historically accurate, as the mod is set in 1918 and tanks were everywhere in the western front, but is there a possiblity to add a "infantry only" mode, to ensure absolute trench warfare and massacres?

I forgot there was a reply button so, just ignore the other comment.I think this could be done in online since the AI are to dumb to put trenches It would be best played in the Grand Offensive mode. I personally have been looking for people to play with me like this but haven't found anyone yet.

Ok, I don't have an account but I don't need one atm. Anyways, I am terrible at tracking what version I have, but I was reading other things, Mr Don Durandal, and you had said (yes, I also recall the stated difficulty of keeping deadlines) that the French would be in version 2.0. My guess is as good as any that my version are the numbers on the bottom of the main menu screen, which says: 2.700.2.42. Am I wrong about this version? I do use the Steam Version, so if that means anything, let me know, please.

v2.700.2.42 is the version of the main vanilla CoH.

You need v2.0 of TGW mod, only v1.2 of TGW is released atm.

I know it took atleast a year for a reply but the Frogs aren't here yet.

That's not going to happen.
1) it takes at least a year to develop a whole new faction (and that's an optimistic assessment) so by the time we're done with France and Austria-Hungary it's likely we will move on.
2) the mod takes place in 1918; the Russian Empire had already fallen and pulled out of the war in 1917 because of the revolution.

Any new units? Will get this soon! :D

BTW, I love this mod, and cannot wait to see the French! Any chance of making a fourth army to join the Germans? Austrian-Hungarian Empire might work...

It´s mentioned on the summary page, which is 1 mouse click away:
"...Currently it features the British Expeditionary Force and the German Empire as opposing factions; however new nations will be brought over time, such as France and Austria-Hungary..."

When I extract this I can't see an exe file. Why is that?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
don_durandal Author
don_durandal - - 1,075 comments

Did you mean the file you downloaded from a mirror is not an exe? To fix that just add .exe at the end of the file name (you'll need to change your options so that file extensions are displayed).

If you meant that after extracting the mod's files you can't find an exe to start the mod, then that's intentional. As said in the installation tutorial, the mod is started from a shortcut on your desktop: Moddb.com

Oh ok, I thought it was a zip so named it .zip. Thanks for clarifying.

When I click on the shortuct, I get a message saying "Windows is searching for RelicCoH.exe -mod tgw -nomovies" I never had this problem with version 1.0 or 1.1. What do I need to do?

Reply Good karma Bad karma-1 votes

You didn't install the mod at the proper place. Since the shortcut links to where you installed the mod files, if you didn't enter the proper directory for CoH then the shortcut will also not link to the proper target.

See the tutorial for a detailed walkthrough: Moddb.com

Should we install over top of 1.1 or should we do a fresh install?

You can install on top of it. Just overwrite the old files when it asks you to.

The old installation is not necessary though. v1.2 has everything in its installer.

Either 1) add ".exe" at the end of the file name (you might need to enable the display the file extensions in your windows folder settings)
or 2) try one of the links at the bottom of the news post: Moddb.com

Hello guys, can someone explain me one thing..??

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

The mod does not cover the whole war, but the timezone from the german spring offensive to it´s defeat. This happened in the year 1918, hence why the mod is named TGW1918.

Dont get me nationalistic, but, i think that Serbia should be put in the mod too, since everybody thinks we started the war, and we broke the Solun front, and Italy should also be put in. Just saying. Btw the mod looks awesome, gonna download it tomorrow! :D

Dear The Great War Mod Team,

I would first like to congradulate you on the stunning, and utterly amazing modification for Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, It is perhaps the best modification I have yet to play. Your fanatical and tenacious defense of historical accuracy does you great credit. I also fully realize the amazing ammount of work that must be put into every single feature. But I must plead with you to make a American Faction. Now I realize how much work would be nessesary to construct a whole new faction(Atleast a year or so I heard) But I think, since the similarity of the American and the British armies, just a Skins change would be fine. Do you think this would be apporpriate? Perhaps do-able?

Hello. My brother and I tried to play Multiplayer but we kept getting the message that we had incompatible map files. We both installed the latest versions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Does it happens with all maps?

Try manually removing all mod files, and then reinstall the mod. It might be that some files were not installed correctly. Also if you had a previous version of the mod, it's possible that the old files were not overwritten.

Some people have also reported sync problems when using the reward skins. Try disabling those.

This mod is freaking great and keeps getting better.

Also now the tank combat and anti-tank weapons seems spot on. (I used to struggle to bring down Mk IV's for some arbitrary reason).

You can use both. However the steam version is a better choice as it is up to date. The retail version requires looking for patches online, as the mod is only supported for versions 2.602 and up.
