Yes that's the plan. We would like to replace all the Doom 3 assets currently in use with mod (sounds, textures, models, animations etc.) and replace them with our own.
Then you won't need Doom 3 anymore :)

Not yet. While the code base is now independent of D3, the assets aren't.

Can't wait to get started. Always did enjoy Thief, especially 1 and 2. 3 wasn't bad, but it wasn't the same in some regards ... better in some but different in others.

Have to wonder about Thorf - 'Thi4f', or however its spelled - and if it'll live up to its origins.

Just installed this beauty of a mod. I'm brand new to modding and this is the first mod I've used that alters anything but graphics. Extremely easy install and so far from what I've played, it's great. So thank you to everyone who made this happen. I actually just bought the Thief Bundle off of Steam last week, so I've got lots of stealthing to do. I was curious though, can normal Doom 3 still be played when this is installed?

Yes. The Dark Mod uses it's own launcher and it's assets go inside it's own darkmod directory. Therefore you just need to launch Doom 3 via the Doom3.exe instead. You can install as many Doom 3 mods as you like as long as they are in their own mod folder and not in the Doom3\base folder.

Thanks. Good to know. Would that apply to the Sikkmod texture mod or any other graphic enhancement mods? That's why I picked up Doom3 off Steam. Wanted to play it again with updated graphics(not BFG). So I found this site and saw The Dark Mod and got first. Was thinking I'd have to uninstall TDM if i wanted better graphics for Doom 3... I'm brand new to modding. And PC gaming in general. Been a console gamer forever but finally got a computer that can play games a couple weeks ago. I can't believe what I was missing.lol. Between this site and Steam's holiday sale I suddenly have so much to play.

Yes, as long as sikkmod is located in

C:\Program Files\<Doom 3 Install folder>\sikkmod

and NOT in

C:\Program Files\<Doom 3 Install folder>\base

you can install it.

That goes for ANY Doom 3 mod, wherever you install Doom 3... DO NOT ALTER THE BASE FILES. As long as you follow that rule you can install as many mods as you like.

Eg:

C:\Doom3\darkmod
C:\Doom3\HexenEOC
C:\Doom3\Ruiner
C:\Doom3\In_Hell
C:\Doom3\sikkmod
