Easy .exe automatic installer, compatible with XP, Vista, Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit. Works with Steam.
Version 1.4.4
This installer will install the entire mod compilation, enable gamedata folder support in the fsgame.ltx file, and make various changes in your user.ltx file. In short, it automates the core installation steps you would normally have to do manually. However, it will reset your in-game settings to their default values.
Compatibility:
- Retail DVD versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl game with 1.0005 (or 1.0006) patch
- Direct2Drive digital copy with Digital Distribution 1.0005 patch
- Steam (launch & exit the game at least once, check for version 1.0005 and install the mod, start a new game after)
Make sure to patch the game before installing a mod, otherwise you will see a black screen on startup. To check if your game is patched, see lower left corner of the main menu screen, it should say ver. 1.0005 (or 1.0006). If nothing is there, that means it's version 1.000. If you have a Steam version, wait for it to get updated automatically.
A special note for Vista/Windows 7 users:
It is recommended to run this installer as Administrator (right click the installer file and select 'Run as Administrator'). This is suggested due to issues with UAC and Rights Management, making it possible to have an incomplete installation and/or “leftovers” after uninstalling. Running this installer as Administrator avoids such issues.
It's also recommened to temporary disable Microsoft Security Essentials (this can be done under Settings inside the program), as it will try to unpack and scan the installer resulting in unresponsive system.
Starting a new game is required!
(giving up on your progress is hard but many agree restarting the game is worth the appreciation of the difference a modded game makes).

is there a way to disable anomaly evasion? I think it's hilarious when a random animal runs right into a whirligig :D
It only affects humans, animals will keep getting caught in anomalies, to disable you would have to go to gamedata\scripts\_z.script (with notepad), find the 5th line that says 'sanb_enabled = true' and change it to 'false'.

So i just stumbled upon this mod because i recently found my copy of stalker and decided to play it again. After a clean install of stalker and patching to 1.005 and then installing the mod, the game wont let me save (i noticed this in comments under the patch and tried everything but nothings worked) also it crashes when i try and go anywhere but the starting area. plz help?
I'm getting the same problem. You cant make any type of save, or goto the next area.

If you mean if you can play this mod on the retail version of the game, then no. You need to update to at least 1.0005
i have the game on disc so how do i update it to 1.0005
If you had a Steam retail version, it'd be done automatically,

There will be a .7z and .exe versions for each update. Some people really do struggle with basic file operations, I'd rather make everyone's life easier.
artistpavel - I'm 'bout 1/2 way thru 1.4 game (love the mod!). Can I install 1.4.1 on top and not lose my game or do I need to start a new 1?

Great mod! Cannot thank you enough for all the hard work. One thing...the night vision is green, and extremely hard to see anything with at night, it also flickers allot. I really cannot use it much at all as the whole screen is washed out with green and white...Anything I can do to change this? Cheers! -Dudeman
Well I just got a new armor suit and the night vision is now black and white...I guess I don't have much of a problem anymore.
Yes, the first night vision you get is like that, and then you get a better armor with the "elite" night vision, and appreciate the difference (same way in original game).

Sorry, scratch the above question. I experimented and got it to work. Only problem I'm having now is a strange one, I can't hear certain sound effects. For instance, I can't hear my gun fire or reload, although I can hear the enemies guns just fine. Also, I can't hear Sidorovich either. I imagine there are probably many more sounds I can't hear, but these are the ones I noticed after 5 minutes of play.
What do you suppose could be causing this? Thanks again Pavel, I'm a great admirer of your work.

Hey man, Nice Mod. I just ran the .exe and set it up properly, However when I run XR_3DA.exe (Or the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) Shortcut, I end up with a error message that says "Cannot open 'fsgame.ltx', Check your working folder" I installed it correctly, did I miss anything? My S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Version is 1.0005 US and I bought the game from Wal-Mart so it was installed with a disc.

It's hard to tell from here, there are a few fixes for "Cannot open 'fsgame.ltx'" on Google.
Try running as admin if you are on Vista or 7.
If else fails, do you want to try manual install? It's the same, just requires placing files manually: Moddb.com

No, just 1.4.1, .exe, but since it doesn't work for you, try the .7z achieve, after you uninstall .exe version.

stantd, that's simple, get a better sound card, I suffered the same problem with Oblivion and I upgraded and now all of the sounds are heard. Post back if there is problems.
Every time I download this it tells me the setup files are corrupted.
Have you tried other mirrors or the manual .7z version?

Just tested on Steam version and it worked perfectly, this is now an officially Steam compatible .exe installer.
Though to make installer work with Steam, you have to run the game once before installation. Otherwise you'll get 'can't detect file path' error.
Make sure to start a new game after installation.
It keeps saying "Files are corrupted, obtain a new program" or something like that, I have windows 10, please answer if I can't get this mod running I'll have to get a refund.
Hi artistpavel. I can't install using the exe of 1.4.1 on the Steam version in Windows7 64bit. SOC runs fine and I did start a game. When I try to install the mod I get the error: Setup cannot detect the STALKER installation. I'm going to download the .7z version overnight but for your reference and for others, the exe for Steam Win7 64 does not always work.
Hi, I can't wait to try your mod, but every time I start a new game I get to Loading Textures and then it crashes to desktop but no error message. Have any ideas on whats going on?
It may not have installed completely, if you are on Vista or Win 7 try running installer as Administrator.
Where do you put the STALKER Complete 2009 Folder. Do you have to save it in the STEAM folder or is it its own entity?
Anywhere is convenient for you, it contains uninstall files and ReadMe, it's not the mod data itself, mod data goes to right directory automatically.
