In this game, you control a small space rescue ship in a randomly generated scenario. Escape pods are randomly disposed with certain number of humans inside (from 1 to 8). The more humans inside an escape pod, the faster its oxygen drops.
Your mission is to get each escape pod inside your ship's hangar (so people can be brought into your ship and the empty capsule can be ejected) and take the humans back to a hospital station in the center of the scenario.
Your ship can take up to 10 passengers and has a crew of two people (who also consume oxygen constantly). The more passengers you have on board, the faster your oxygen level drops. At the start of the mission, you must decide which capsules you will rescue first, considering the oxygen, distance and fuel consumed. Each time you stop at the hospital sation, passengers are transferred to it and your ship is refueled (including oxygen).
IN A DISTANT FUTURE...
THE HUMAN RACE HAVE SPREAD AMONG THE STARS.
INTERSTELLAR SPACE TRAVEL WAS BECOMING VITAL
FOR TOURISM, SCIENCE, BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY.
EVENTUALLY, WHEN AN ACCIDENT HAPPENED,
PEOPLE ABORD A LARGE SPACESHIP WERE FORCED
TO ABANDON IT AND LEAVE IN ESCAPE CAPSULES,
PRAYING FOR A SOFT LANDING, TO BE FOUND SOON
AND TO BE BROUGHT BACK HOME.
WHEN THE NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS IN DEEP SPACE,
FAR FROM ANY PLANET OR SPACE STATION, INCREASED,
IT SOON BECAME CLEAR THAT THE LIFES OF
THOSE PEOPLE COULD NOT BE LEFT TO THE DESTINY.
IF THE INTERSTELLAR SPACE TRAVEL WERE EVER
TO BE TRUSTED, A NEW KIND OF SERVICE WAS MORE
ADVANCED ESCAPE CAPSULES WERE THEN DEVELOPED
AND SPECIALIZED TEAMS WERE TRAINED AND EMPLOYED
TO WATCH THE STARS LOOKING FOR THEIR SOS BROADCASTS.
THE SPACE RESCUE SERVICE WAS BORN.
