The final version (v4.0) of the Rise of Three Kingdoms mod for Medieval II Total War.
- 1. Delete the mods\rotk folder and the desktop shortcut if you had a previous version of Rise of Three Kingdoms installed.
- 2. After the download has completed, extract all contents (4 files total) from zip file into the same directory - compare with 'Download Content' picture below
- 3. Run\double-click the Rise of three Kingdoms 4.0 part1 (Application) file - the DO files will install automatically.
- 4. Once part1 has installed, a verification process will take place - compare with 'Verification' picture below. Once the verification has finished, check if all files have verified OK (1) and then close the window (2) to proceed with the finishing of the installation.
- 5. After the verification of part 1 has finished, then run/double-click the Rise of three Kingdoms 4.0 part2 (Application) file and allow to install.
- 6. Again, after part2 has been installed, a verification process will take place. Wait for it to complete as you did with part1. Once verified, close as you did with part1.
- 7. After installation of the mod has completed, it is highly recommended to use the 4GB Patch with this mod, as it allows Medieval II to use greater system resources, allowing greater stability and performance for modifications. The easiest way is to Google "4gb patch" and the first result should be from NTCore. When you run the 4gb_patch.exe, apply it to medieval2.exe.
- 8. When running the mod for the first time, it may crash. Do not worry - simply run the mod again and it will work just fine. It is also recommended that your very first campaign be a "throwaway" - play it with understanding that it may randomly CTD on the campaign map and you will need to discard the campaign. If/when you come across the CTD issue, start a new campaign and the issue will go away.

Can i download it to the steam/steamapps/common/medieval2/mods folder?
If the directions in the installer say to point to your main Medieval II Total War folder, do that.
Do I have to install all the patches or just the latest one?
Just this (4.0 Full Version) and the 4.1 Update.
great mod
thank you for the update
can i extract the file to medieval 2 total war mods file
No, someone already asked that above. The installer needs to point to the Medieval II Total War folder. This mod is mod-foldered so it won’t affect your vanilla files or other mods.
can you install this with no steam? im no steam users by the way
Yes, just point the installer at your Medieval II Total War folder. In conjunction with that, a good rule is to have Medieval 2 installed outside of Program Files x86 (as it is shown to cause problems for mods).
And when you install the 4GB Patch (instructions are at the bottom of mod summary) point that at whichever .exe your game uses (I’m not sure if it’s medieval2.exe or kingdoms.exe).
Hi. Can i do it the other way around like i install the rotk at c: only then transfer all the files from the mod of medieval 2 kingdoms?
Yes, you can do that, as long as the “rotk” folder ends up in the Medieval II Total War/mods/ directory.
excuse me, i wanna know, why army can't board a ship? in sun clan.
In Medieval II, a fleet has to be either in port or adjacent to a beach (not any land tile) in order for an army to embark/disembark.
