Here it is, the first SP beta release for Quake 1.5
PLEASE NOTE - Quake mods that have a custom progs dat CANNOT be combined with this
If the particles still look like classic Quake and there's no blood decals make sure "cl_particles_quake" is set to 0 in console, also make sure "cl_stainmaps" is set to 0 as it messes with the blood decals (both are options in the main menu)
Here you go guys, extract the Quake 1.5 folder to your root Quake directory - make sure you read the readme that comes with it.
RECOMMENDED YOU USE THE DARKPLACES BUILD THAT COMES WITH IT if you don't have a 2017 DP build
Update: The 2018 builds break this mod, use 2017 DP builds only

Yeah. You do. It doesn't support Quakespasm or FTE yet. Support for other engines is on his bucket list.

Quick Q: How do we revert to the Quake 2 styled super shotgun? Had a look through the ingame menu and config file and couldn't see an option.
EDIT: Manage to get it back by extracting the PK3 and moving/renaming some MDL and the sound files around!

Awesome work by the way, this morning is just what Quake needed to modernise it and make it even better to play!
This is a great mod, unfortunately I found that it conflicts with maps that add custom content, like AD or Nehahra, causing invisible weapons. I'm using Quake Injector if that matters.
That's just a side effect of being a quake mod, quake mods aren't compatible with each other together. You might be able to copy paste the maps folder from the mod you want though
Hey man. First off I wanna say you did a fantastic job making the combat feel more modern, but I do have some bugs to point out:
1) the mouse feels off. Every so often, the mouse will jerk itself in the direction I'm currently moving it.
2) The mod is rather CPU heavy. Regardless of whether or not I have the Darkplaces effects on, my GPU (GTX 1070) remains underutilized - never going above 30% while my CPU (i7 4770K) only ever likes to use one thread and said thread never dips below 65%.
Unfortunately I'm not an engine coder so there's nothing I could do on the engine front outside of recommending you play with console variables
As for the mouse, try launching with -dinput in the shortcut/bat file and see if that helps
The bottom of the skybox gets reflected in water at certain angles.
How to play this mod with Scourge of Armagon, Dissolution of Eternity and with Arcane Dimentions? Or it is not possible?

Whenever I try to play a map, I get it's name and the mod options, but I can't see a damn thing. All I get is a black screen with the UI. I am using the most recent version of Darkplaces, can anybody help?
Had same problem. Use version what packaged with the mod!
Use the provided DP build, the newer builds change DP a lot and it breaks most of the mod
the darkplacesengine20170806 works great for 32 bits system.

Sorry, I got a strange case of mouse movement issue - it's inconsistent and jerky, like, everything's fine, but mouse sometimes moves way too fast and sometimes slows to a crawl. Tried base Quake 1 and DarkPlaces - everything's fine there, but as soon as I run Quake 1.5 - it happens.
Any suggestions? I wanted to play this so badly, but with this issue it's sadly unplayable.
That is very odd, maybe launch darkplaces with -dinput? Are you using a 2017 DP build?

Try using darkplaces-sdl.exe instead of darkplaces.exe

For some reason the scaling of the rendering of the game doesn't match the resolution I set the game to. The rendering looks like it's zoomed in on a small portion of the scene in 4K. It's not as bad in 1080p but it's still happening.
Answer for this is below in another thread, you need to use 100% resolution scaling in windows + set the desktop to the same resolution you are going to run the game at. Annoying but it works.
I know this is late but you dont have to set windows to 100% resolution. instead just right click the darkplaces.exe properties,compatibility, run this program as administrator, change high DPI settings, in this window tick both boxes and select "I open this program" and "application".

Ive been clicking on the batch file for hours. Uninstalled, installed again. Still no response.
You have to put the batch and mod files and Quake files into the Darkplaces folder lmao
move the contents of the darkplaces folder into the Quake directory. Don't put the folder itself into the Quake directory, put its contents there.
I get like 20 FPS on 800 x 600 resolution, and I am also on low end mode. Any tips on how to increase perfomance?

yep, and if you're wondering, I have an AMD A4 processor, R3 graphics card and 8 GB of RAM.
Hmm that should be enough power to run the mod with a good high framerate. I honestly don't know what the problem could be here as I haven't encountered any big issues so far (mod runs at 250+ fps with vsync off). I hope bloodshot12 has any tips that could help you.

I tried using the included build but in another folder, but that didn't work out.
Try forcing your graphics settings to use the R3 chip to run DarkPlaces - for some reason sometimes Windows defaults to the wrong graphics card sometimes.
When I start the game I'm on the introduction level but it's black. When I enter the home or backspace menu I can see the game. Any way to skip that?
It seems to be a bug connected to the hud display.
it's because you're probably not using the DP build included with the mod.
Hmmm I am using DP. The demo works just fine. When I run certain maps it works fine too. It's just the introduction level that it's bugged for me.
You have to use one of the builds from july - august 2017 or the UI will have issues

With this version your have white quares on some textures. I´ts not proper working.
