Disable UAC. First (not after!) paste the PCP_File_Cleaner.bat into your data folder (default is 'SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\data') and run it (double-click it). Run the File Cleaner before installation to remove some M2TW and TATW hardcoded bugs, they cannot be removed after installation.
After running it install PCP_Files_Installer.exe to desktop and copy the data folder and replace your TATW data folder. Then do the same with the First_Age_Installer.exe (or one of the others to make them the Main Campaigns). Launch your game as you normally would.

OPTIONAL Enb Series;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Locate PCP_Enb_Series folder in your mod folder and copy the SEGA folder and paste over your SEGA folder, and run the game or any mod as usual (works with everything). After the game menu has finished loading hold SHIFT and press F12 at any time to enable/disable the tweaks. This was designed for use in battles only, it will work on the strat map but strat map lighting is far simpler so its probably best to toggle it off (SHIFT+F12).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OPTIONAL Hotseat/Multi-Factions Campaigns;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All campaigns are Hotseat compatible. Paste the following code into your TATW.cfg file (over any pre-existing "[hotseat]" section) to fight all battles in Hotseat Campaigns. Without it you will have to auto resolve defensive battles. Do this before you start your campaign and make the TATW.cfg file Read Only. This is not save game compatible as far as I know. Do not disable console, many scripts use it. Use File Swappers to allow for Hotseat Campaigns in all Ages.
Paste the following code into the pre-existing [hotseat] section or make one;
[hotseat]
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_c />disable papal_electi />save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 1
validate_diplomacy = 1
turns = false
scroll = false
~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OPTIONAL File Swapping;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vista/8+ users should use the installers to swap ages, but with full permissions the swappers will work. Steam users may need to change the name used in Steam to launch the game with these, just running them and starting your game as usual is fine. Locate the .bat launchers/File Swappers in your mod folder and RUN ONE whenever you switch to and from the First Age for the first time which uses different files, otherwise you need two or more mods/mod folders of TATW to have two or more Ages. Be sure to state that you are not playing the First Age if you give feedback on other Ages, be specific or you will just break all of them with misleading info.
May I ask why you need to disable the UAC?
You do not need to, it is recommended so no files get blocked while installing as UAC does with many other programs. You can re-enable UAC after installing or don't bother disabling and see if it works.
I personally have UAC as disabled as it can be on my wife's laptop and I don't even have this game installed on there, I just disable UAC no matter what.
Could you replace the primary download, the archive is corrupted
UAC is disabled btw
try to run the installer as administrator
What is UAC?
UAC is "User Account Control" which is some windows security program which lets the user block access for harmful files. Something like that. You can switch it off if you search for "Change User Account Control Settings"
Is This A Submod or just a mod?
It uses stuff from TATW, which would make it a "submod" since you need TATW. Most things have been changed or replaced or removed though so if you like M2TW/TATW's simplistic gameplay then what I made (a more lore-accurate and realistic approach) may not appeal to you.
Hi, I am an owner of the game medieval 2 on Steam. I downloaded the .zip file of the mod on this page, exctracted it on my desktop, and a folder PCP_Setup appeared. I first copied and launched the PCP_File_Cleaner in the data folder of americas (the name I gave to the TATW mod, to make it work). Then I launched the PCP_Files_Installer and the folder called Data appeared on my desktop. I copied it in the data folder of the mod americas too.
Then I downloaded the other .zip file (First_Age_Campaigns.zip), exctracted it on my desktop and launched it. But then, another Data folder and a lot of different icons appeared on my desktop. What should I do?
Paste the second data folder to the same place and overwrite again, they contain different files just the folder name is the same. You are doing it correctly it sounds like.
Make sure all the maps look the same in the faction selection screen, if so it should be good to go.
Hello I have been trying to install this mod for a while but every time i try to run the installer it says "Error 1925. You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as Administrator and then retry this installation." Even though I am logged in as a admin and all the accounts on my computer are admins. If you could tell me what I am doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Try right-clicking the installers and choose the "Run As Administrator" option.
Thank you for the help I am looking forward to fighting some First Age Wars.
Is TATW required before downloading and installing this mod?
Yes it uses many TATW 3.2 files (settlements, units, art, and visual stuff like that mainly). Don't install TATW patch 3.1 at all, skip it entirely. It has a virus or something I heard.
When I used the packed files installer the first time it asked me where to install then it informed me that one of the discs did not have enough space and told me how much data it was installing, it said that it was installing data on 2 discs, may I ask why and where the data is going on the second disc that I didn't select? I have steam version and the game is installed on a different disc than steam it self is on
Also, how do I uninstall this?
I ask the developers for help. The MOD is excellent, AWESOME, but the speed of movement of generals on the map depresses me. Tell me, how can I make the generals with units move faster on the map?
Hello, I installed all how you wrote it in the description but it doesn't work.
I bought Medieval II(and Kingdoms) on Steam. I ran every files as an Administrator. If I start the game, it shows me the start Screen but then it close. If I use another kingdoms.exe no-disc-file (usually I use a copy of the medieval.exe file, because Steam version only contain this file) the game shows an error but without Information. I reinstalled Third Age but the it also doesn't work. I edited the TATW.cfg (from mod = mods/Third_Age_PCP to mod = mods/Third_Age_3, because the folder had this name) then I edited it back and renamed the folder Third_Age_PCP without sucess. What can I do?
I had the same problem when I did the direct installation. You need to manually install the PCP core, and the first age campaign to desktop, then copy and paste the data files into a fresh TATW 3.2 version, then when you fancy trying a different campaign, copy only the 1/3/4TH age .bat files into the same folder. to avoid messing up, do a fresh TATW 3.2 install, then copy and paste that folder elsewhere for a backup. Once that is done, simply lauch thirdage.bat and it will load the first age up, to use the 3rd/4th ages, click the .bat for them, it will then load regularly M2TW up, exit, then click TATW.bat for that one to work. Took me a while to figure out what went wrong tbh, but do this since that worked for me. Would have been nice if Ded had replied to you, but hope that helps :)
Thank you!!!
I never claimed to be nice:). I used to kill people for a living after all. Thanks for the instructions though, I will paste them elsewhere for others. Apparently my way of saying the same thing is not working for others.
Why there are so many files with the same content? It is confusing. For example into the First Age Campaign files are the files for the other campaigns inside, too. And into the UI Patch for First Age are the the patchs for the other campaigns, too. And with the files of the other campaigns it is the same.
Hey, I think it's really necessary to have tutorial video for installing this mod. It's getting really hard for some of us (I see many people having problems with the installation). I have followed the instructions step by step, tried it 3 times and still crashing when open it. I hope somebody take time for this, cuz this mod seems really awesome.
Anyone can make a video or a new installer if they like, the people that install it properly don't care to. I never installed it, I made it on the PC I use.
hello, I don't seem to have the opportunity to choose where to direct the Installation of the "PCP_File_Installer.exe" it just asks for Modify or Repair. I chosue modify and it installs the program, but i dont know where it goes. It dont end up on desktop or in anyother folder i can think of (SEGA or Steam).
Can you help me?
Thank you for your time :)
I had the same issue, for me it was installed in a separate third age folder in my Program Files (x86).
same probelem here, I dont know if there is a fix for it as I cannot find one
I am sorry, I don't know if I am doing something wrong, I have downloaded all the necessary files, but why PCP_Files_Installer and First_Age_Installer.exe do not show on the Install Wizard the installation destiny? The first time it directed it to the Third_Age_3 folder, then it happened some errors >>I had to delete the Third Age folder<<, reinstalled Third Age 3.2 and made everything according to the above methods of installation... But now it doesn't show the installation path... What do you think I should do?
Desinstala los dos archivos referentes al first age total war, desde el panel de control...packfiles y el installer del propio mod (first age total war)...vuelve a instalarlo, y te aparecerá la ruta que buscabas...
Hello there. I love your mod and I'm really looking forward to an update to fix the many crashes that happen to me even when I'm only looking through the unit stats. I just hope you don't stop working on this man. Yours is the only Silmarillion/First Age mod I've found. Keep up the awesome work!
Your mod is awesome but your installation process is trash af.
it would be nice if someone had a video of how to install it because when people try to explain it you just get different answers. and i have tried it for 3 times to download.
