This would be interesting to know, as I get around 150 errors launching the game after installing the automatic and after reinstalling also the manual way.
It tells me, that a lot of areas are "EMPTY" for some reason.

Nope, you NEED to reinstall Morrowind and all of your expansion packs (if you downloaded and/or installed any) and besides it won't take long. The game itself is only around 600 MB

You need Tribunal AND Bloodmoon in order for MGSO to do its thing.

Can this be played on the X-Box version via a 360? Perhaps by saving it on the computer and changing the save file extension and loading said save file onto the 360?

G'day all!
I am quite new to all this, yet it seems fascinating! I actually just bought the platinum hits version of Morrowind, yet it does not have the enemy health bar! I figured out that i would have to get the GOTY version, but after some more research and this great website, i will just buy the PC version and try using the overhaul mod. Does anyone know if that mod included a Character Overhaul too so that my character is not like a walking stick with ice skates on?

Would you be able to add this mod to a steam version of the game. If you can, how would you do it?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
i-pinkiepie
i-pinkiepie - - 19 comments

You can, it's fully compatible with Steam (MAKE SURE TO DISABLE IN-GAME UI OR YOU WILL HAVE A BLACK SCREEN.)

Copy ALL files directly to your Morrowind folder within Steam, and install just like you would with vanilla.

I have an AMD FX-9370 at 4.8ghz, a Radeon 7970ghz at 1.1ghz and 16gb DDR3 ram.. a very fast pc by any means. This overhaul although fantastic, just kills my framerates. Up and down for no cause. I can stand in the same spot without moving and my framerate jumps from 40-8-30-9, but mostly stays low and unplayable.

You can set it for a slow pc, which makes it playable, but the framerates are still over over the place. I'm using the 13.9 drivers, gonna try the reliable old 13.4's to see if there is a difference. For the record my old Phenom 965 (3.4ghz) and Radeon 6990 (which unfortunately burned out) had higher framerates than my new system.

Never played Morrowind before, mainly because of the dated graphics. Now I am looking forward to exploring the land of the Dunmer for the first time.

Yes, you just need to point it to your Steam folder, not the Bethesda folder. Once everything you need is placed there, it is all guided.

I'm getting this error message every time I try to install MGSO_3.0_Final.

"Your Morrowind installation doesn't have all the requirements to install Morrowind Overhaul. See the reports on this page and do what's needed to meet the requirements. When done re-run the installer!"

I have a clean, new install from steam with both expansion packs. My rig runs Skyrim just fine, so what's wrong?

How many of you had errors when installing and how many of you didn't? (By this I mean downloading the mod -was it difficult etc.- and the actual usage of it -did it work well or did it screw up the game.-)

It doesn't mess up anything usually. (I have had a few game crashes but that can be easily fixed) It's perfectly safe.

Same problem here. Waited about 30 min after extraction - no luck. Ctrl+Alt+Delete makes mouse move again, but I can't complete the installation process anyway.

Fixed it, here is instruction:
1. Install Morrowind
2. Unpack "MGSO_3-0_Final.rar". Copy unpacked files to Morrowind folder
3. Run the file "Data.exe" in Morrowind folder. The unpacking process will start.
4. In Morrowind folder create empty file "MOInstaller.ini". Add the foolowing lines to it:
[Extraction]
Installed=1
5. Run the installer "MOInstaller.exe" with administrative permissions (Run As Administrator).
6. Skip (Next) the extraction process.
