This update includes an xdelta patch. This download contains a set of files that replace the some of the lower quality audio files in the Windows port of "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" with those from the original PlayStation release.
Section 1: Introduction
This download contains a set of files that replace the some of the lower quality audio files in the Windows port of "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" with those from the original PlayStation release.
Included in the "Main" folder is everything required to patch the audio files with either Blood Pill or xdelta UI.
The "Extras" folder contains three folders and a zipped folder.
A - The folder titled "bigfile audio PS to PC" has .wav conversions of the audio files that are replaced.
B - A copy of Blood Pill version 1.1, the source code is also included.
C - The folder titled "scripts" has two custom batch scripts I made when working on this patch.
C.1 - A modified version of "patch_pillbig.bat" that allows the Command Line can be run as an administrator in the same directory that the script is located in.
C.2 - A modified version of "bigfile_unpack_oggsounds.bat" called "bigfile_unpack_wavsounds.bat" that I used to convert all the audio files to .wav format.
D - A copy of WinMD5Free version 1.20 in the folder titled "WinMD5Free" is included in order to compare checksum values for the PILL.BIG file.
The checksum value for the original PILL.BIG file is c6f9cd50b11def2d9a302b7183c19d91
The checksum value for the patched PILL.BIG file is eca343e0fadabdbd191f4b8622d1d1d4
To know the differences of the sound files replaced, go to Section 3.
If I missed anything major, please let me know.
Section 2.1.1: xdelta UI Instructions
Step 1: Go into the game's folder with PILL.BIG and rename it to something else.
- If you used Verok's installer, it should be located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\KAIN\KAIN" or at "C:\Program Files\KAIN\KAIN".
- If you used CubanRaul's installer, it should be located at "C:\Games\KAIN\KAIN".
Step 2: Go into the "Main" folder for the patch and go into the "xdeltaUI" folder and launch xdeltaUI.exe.
- If your game is located in one of the "Program Files" folders, run xdeltaUI.exe as an administrator.
Step 3: Select "bohqsound.xdelta" as the patch file.
Step 4: Select the renamed PILL.BIG file from your installation as the source file.
Step 5: For the output file, name it "PILL.BIG".
Section 2.1.2: Restoring PILL.BIG

Step 3: Paste the contents of the "Main" folder into the game's installation folder.
Step 4: Run "HQ Audio Patch.bat" AS AN ADMINISTRATOR or else Blood Pill will crash as it buffers PILL.BIG.
- If you did not run the script as an administrator, go to Section 2.1, then start the installation process all over again.
Section 2.2.2: Restoring PILL.BIG

Step 2: Drag the patched version of PILL.BIG on the WinMD5Free window and see if it matches the given checksum value.
Section 3: Differences with the Sound Files Replaced
av0011.fag - The Windows version awkwardly stops and stretches as Anacrothe calls for Malik.

do i need the other sound files or just this one ?
You don't need any of the previous releases to use this. Sorry for not clarifying earlier.

Try using Verokster's OpenGL wrapper. It includes the HQ patch and fixes many other issues that the PC port has.
