Some hardcore improvements have been made since the last version, in response to players' demand. Read the PDF manual both before and after installation, it can answer most of your questions.
Again, this rar is compressed using RAR5 format, to unzip it, you need WinRAR 5.0 or higher version.

Main changes from 2.8:
(HIGHLIGHT) Massively improved AI will now kick your ass! Choose Expert AI players, and set the "AI Augmented Skills" (in Simplex Custom game mode) to "Full", then the new AI behaviour will amaze you! At these max difficulty settings, AI players can develop a reasonably strong fleet in a short time (by cheating, just like Yaodu Mod), and they are so good at surviving that when you think you are able to wipe out an entire AI fleet, the AI will just manage to survive and recover its full strength very quickly. What's more amazing, AI players of all races now know to use hyperspace jump to launch attack! This is done in an extroadinarily complex way (using dummy hyperspace gates), just to prove what a genius I am, once again! XD
Be prepared to encounter a dozen Templars and Avatars jumping out of hyperspace around your Mothership! Here are some further advice regarding the new AI:
1. For noobs: don't be scared, this mod is still noob friendly -- these new ass-kicking AI features are only designed for players who asked me to kick their ass! Just play with Easy AI players, they are still as stupid as usual! As long as you don't play with Expert AI and don't set "AI Augmented Skills" to max, you can still play in the noob way without getting your ass kicked :)
2. For hardcore players: don't think you can't win because the AI is cheating. In fact, I spent a lot of time deciding what level of cheating is reasonable, and I finally came up with a conclusion -- the more the AI behaves like human, the more fun this game will bring to you -- too much cheating, it will be insane (like Expert AI in Yaodu Mod); too little, it will be boring (like the previous versions of Complex Simple, although I still think the Expert AI in the previous versions should be already challenging for most players). The reason why I coined the term "AI Augmented Skills", instead of simply "AI Cheating", is that this option is supposed to bring the AI players with abilities comparable to real human players, and cheating is just a way to emulate human players. So, even if this option is set to max, the AI players will still not be insane -- they will just be on the level of a human hardcore player, and you can certainly defeat them if you are a hardcore player too.
New tech tree for Progenitor. Now, basically everything needs to be unlocked by research if you are playing Progenitor. The Energy to RU conversion rate has also been halved so that Progenitor won't be too overpowered. However, let's just face it, the Progenitor is still overpowered -- this is just coherent with the basic setting of the original Homeworld 2 plot. So, don't tell me the new AI is still too weak because you can defeat 5 non-Progenitor Expert AI players using Progenitor (people have bragged about that to me before)! Tell me whether you can beat 5 Progenitor Expert AI players!
New ship icons for Kadeshi, Turanic Raiders, and Progenitor
New music
The music will no longer lag behind the game no matter how laggy your game is! When a soundtrack ends, it will just end! This is done in another genius way, by redefining time in the music player! Modders who are troubled by the same music lag problem should check this out too!
New algorithm for "Progressive Random" music playing mode, it is now more like "dynamic random". In the past versions, when the game year is fewer than 11, it will always play ambient soundtracks; now, when the game year is below 11, it will play battle soundtracks if there's battle going on, and if the battle is fierce, it will automatically play special soundtracks.
As our players demanded, new options have been added to the "Unit Behaviour" setting. You can now reduce all ships' maneuverability if you like -- even to turtle speed!
Some subsystems, weapons, and units have been replaced to serve new functions
The built-in gameplay help manual (click the INFO button on the taskbar) has been revised. It now explains the complex game features in this mod more accurately.
An issue has been fixed where you could use Miner Missiles to destroy enemy vessels in the campaign. (This was discovered because a player said that he was exploiting this bug to win easily, and he thought it was a completely legit trick ~LOL)
The file keeps cutting off at 1.79 GB's for me. Winrar keep's saying the file is broken. Downloaded it twice already and it broke off at the same spot both times.

Yeah, it worked after I downloaded the newer Winrar. On a side note, do you know offhand what maps contain those battleships outside of whiteout and blueshift? Both maps hurt to look at so I'd rather mess with another map that has them, but I haven't found any other maps that have them so far. Outside of that, amazing mod! Keep it up.

You can't say they are "fixed", because there was no bug with AI in the past versions anyway. In this version, the top-level AI players do get much stronger, and yes, this applies to all races.

There's no problem with downloading. If you can't extract the rar file, you need WinRAR5.0
The mod is bugged.....Research is not open for everything....Can't research battleships and battlecruisers....Ideas ? I have a battle shipyard standing by and i can't used it to build those ships....
Read the description of the ships you want to build. Battle Shipyard can build battleships and battlecruiers, but it can't research them! To research battleships and battlecruiers, you need Adv. CapShip Production Facility on a standard or strategic shipyard.
I can't seem to pass mission 13th, where I must stop the destruction of the Balcora Gate's power generators...can anyone help me?
Shortly after the cinematic of blah saying that the Vagyr are concentrating fire on the power generators, I barely had a chance to stop them, cause after the cinematic ends, I only had like 30 seconds to stop them.If not, all hell broke loose.
Note: I used cheats to destroy them all, and it seemed to bug the campaign mission.
There're 3 generators, all you need to do is just to protect 1. There're many Vaygr frigates, yet only a few of them can deal substantial damage to the generator (i.e. heavy missiel frigates, plasma frigates). You have Battlecruisers, Battleships, Vortecies, and heavy artilleries. All you need to do is to destory a few frigates, I don't think there's anything hard about this mission.
Game runs well for me except there's no sound, no music. While everything is fine in sound settings. As i runed 1 game time to time it poped up that new song started playing. Any ideas ?
Is your data folder clean (no raw files from other mods)? It's most likely due to interference from other mods you have previously installed.

Do you mean difficulty level for AI in campaign? There's no difficulty level settings for campaign, because:
1) as the campaign progresses, the AI difficulty level automatically goes from Easy to Expert
2) the AI difficulty can automatically adapt to your fleet strength to some degree
As much as I love this mod, I can't help but feel its markedly missing most of its potential without working multiplayer. :(
That's the biggest pitty for me too. I have only one computer that's powerful enough to run this mod, so I haven't been able to test this mod in multiplayer mode.
Hmm, seems i have run in an potential bug or not, but it seems everytime i try to start a map with a vaygr player/cpu it seems to crash but not with any of the other races. Help would be good.
Send me your Hw2.log after crash. If you don't know how to do that, read the pdf manual.
Hi Siliconworm, enjoying the mod immensly but I am stuck at Level 9. Shipjard Nabaal does not show up I get the short scene that it is supposed to jump in but is states it is destroyed, if I then build a shipjard myself the dreaghnought still does not finish repairing. Which in turn causes me to be unable to finish the mission. Please help. Ps repost from the working campain comments

Sometimes i think ships go so fast they hit each other and explode, this is normal ?
I think capital ships are moving too fast, there is a way to reduce their speed ?
1. yes they can, but interceptors can hurt them worse
2. yes it's normal, this is real space warfare
3. Use the "Unit Behaviour" option in skirmish settings to reduce ship speed
Hey, one question how to convert from the big files the mp3 files anyone has an idea?
Extracting the big file is easy, but converting the .fda files inside to .mp3 is really complicated. An easier way would be searching those mp3 files online directly, since the titles for most of the soundtracks are given in game.

There is a problem with Turanic battleships. I could only build Blackmarket and one of battlesruiser. The rest, like Queen, Lord, Bigdaddy - they come out of the manufacturer but they look like rectangle without any attack skills and feature to build upon them.
Guys if you want some tactic try to play Turanic vs 2x Progenitor - starting armada, Expert mode :)
Those "rectangles" are scaffolds. Use your Slaves to repair them, once they have full health, your Turanic capital ship will be spawned.

You mean the RAR5 format? Just download a new version of winRAR, it's free.
Or do you mean the big file inside the rar? If this is the case, read the pdf instruction supplied in the rar, it tells you how to install this mod.
If you can't use big file for some reason (e.g. mac), you can extract the big file and use the raw files inside instead.

Just install an English version of HW2 and play this mod. You'll have to learn some English XD
