How do i use it?

The 7z-Archive have to be extracted into a temporary folder where you should run the FreiRaum_fsport.exe. After that, you should read the instructions that explain every possible installation option and then you can simply install the desired features.

After the installation you only have to run your wxLauncher and to select the "Nova Upgrade: FreeSpace Port" profile for that you only have to confirm your FreeSpace 2 directory, after that, you can play the game with the button of the same name. If you do not use the profile, you only have to select "Nova Upgrade: FreeSpace Port" in the "Mods" tab.

What are these campaigns about?

FreeSpace: The Great War

The year is 2335. For 14 years there is a raging war between the terrans from the Galactic Terran Alliance, GTA for short, and the vasudans of the Parliamentary Vasudan Navy, abbreviated as PVN. This is a war whose end is not in sight. However this changes abruptly as an unknown powerful race appears that does not make any difference between both species and does not seem to be interested in diplomacy either. Thus, both hostile races are forced to work together to maintain the hope of survival. Although the Terrans and Vasudans together are able to catching up the technological advantage of the powerful race, that is only known as Shivans, the war not only get more severity when a invincible shivan super-destroyer, which is called Lucifer, emerges, but also because of the seperation of some Vasudans to form the religous group with the name Hammer of Light who believe, that the Shivans are the prophesied "Cosmic Destroyers" and therefore do whatever they can to make this prophecy going to happen.
You are a pilot of the Galactic Terran Alliance and you are driven right into this conflict where only thing matters in the end: Survival!

FreeSpace: Silent Threat

The Lucifer was stopped at the last possible moment and the Terran and Vasudan forces emerged victorious in the Great War. But it is a victory which was bought dearly, because Vasuda Prime, the vasudan homeworld, was devasteted and made uninhabitable and the Earth was cutted off from the rest of the Galaxy due to the collapse of the jump node, which is also the reason why the Galactic Terran Alliance is struggling and have to reorientate. It is a time of uncertainty, which is not the only thing that threatens the truce with the Vasudans, but also the weakened Shivans aswell the Hammer of Light want to take advantage in this uncertainty. You are called up by the GTI, the Galactic Terran Intelligence to contribute, that the GTA is able to get through this hard times safely. However you are to be get on the track of a conspiracy where it becomes clear, that there are also rogue elements within terran ranks that are pursuing their own goals.

FreeSpace: Operation Templar

It is the year 2351, 16 years have passed since the Great War. After several political crises in the Galactic Terran Alliance the ceasefire with the Vasudans resulted into a new great alliance: The Galactic Terran Vasudan Alliance, which is also known as GTVA for short. But even with the victory over the Shivans peace did not come into the Galaxy as the Hammer of Light transformed itself from a religious splinter group into a terrorist organization with the sole purpose to destroy the Alliance with the Terrans and to drive both races into a war again. You are part of Operation Templar, the Operation that want to eliminate this last relic of the Great War once and for all.

The Last Hope

Despite the best efforts, it was not possible to stop the SSD Lucifer before it reaches the vasuda system. Even if the Vasudan homeworld seems to be lost, the war is far from over. As a vasudan pilot on the PVD Hope, which is the most beloved destroyer of the vasudan people, you have to perform the most amazing operations together with your wingmen, not only for revenge, but also for every vasudan who is still alive.

Journey to Altair

Vasuda Prime is gone and the Shivans are on the verge of discovering earth aswell. However, fleeing vasudan scientists were able to found ancient records on Altair IV. Because these records could contain information about how to stop the Shivans, they have to be retrieved. You are given command over a strike force from the GTD Bastion and you have to command your wingmen well, to get the desired information, because Altair is deep into Hammer of Light territory... and they are already warned. So, getting there and back might be far more difficult than anyone ever imagined.

What is different to the original game?

• The released APNG versions of animations from the FreeSpace Port are integrated as an optional downloadable package.
• All so far created remastered cutscenes are part of this modification.
• The last remaining original cutscene is from the DVD Version of the game, which means that it has a higher quality than the cutscene from every available download or cd release.
• The single missions from "The Destiny of Peace" and "Awakenings" were replaced, because both campaigns are available as a seperate upgraded release. Instead of these missions, i have converted and rebalanced every previously exclusive cooperative multiplayer mission for singleplayer use.
• One of the three "Silent Threat" soundtracks were assigned to missions, that did not had a background music before.
• Backgrounds suitable to the system the mission take place, were added to every mission that did not had a background.
• Directives like "Return to Base" were added to every mission that did not had these.
• Some missions were changed due to canon reasons or because some unused, but present, elements of the missions were reactivated. But there are also some changes due to difficulty reasons, of course.
• Every cooperative multiplayer missions were rebalanced for the corresponding number of players.
• Two new Dogfight missions were created that take place around a PVI Karnak installation.
• Updated models for GTF Apollo, PVS Scarab, PVD Typhon and GTC Fenris are used.
• Ace Pilots are using ships, that are much more resistant.
• Hammer of Light ships like HLC Aten or HLD Typhon are using HoL Skins sometimes.
• Nameplates were created for every ship that support them and did not had one before.
• Every ship from cruiser class and upwards have now an individual name.
• Every command briefing has a consistent style now. That means that there are not only date and location information during "Silent Threat" but also in every standalone singleplayer mission.
• Missions were it was possible to determinate when they take place, i took care that only ships and weapons are usable that were available at the given time.
• The TurretHotkey script will be used in every mission were the disarming of a ship is a real mission objective.
• Vasudan ships are using the PVN HUD by WormSlayer.
• Shivan ships are using the Shivan Hive HUD by Asteroth.
• Support ships are always launched from allied capital ships, that are present in the mission area.
• If your base stay in the mission area after you have been ordered to return to base, you have to land in its fighterbay to end the mission.
• The ship save/load script by Admiral MS is integrated in this mod by default.
• Additionally the ScreenCam script, again by Admiral MS, is also integrated by default. But you should never use it in multiplayer missions!
• As an optional package, you can also install the Message Box script by Axem, which displayed a easier readable box for communication messages. But it is only configured for 16:9 resolutions up to 2560x1440.
