The full build of "Fourth Age: Total War - The New Shadow" (as released in 2008) including the 2.6 patch and Hotfix. Installation: 1. If you have a previous version of FATW installed, first remove it by deleting the RTW/bi/ci folder. 2. Install TNS 2.6 Full by simply running the executable and pointing it to your main RTW directory (where the RTW-BI.exe is). The installer will create a shortcut on your desktop. No other files are required. 3. Play.

Its actually their first release. Its 2.6, since moddb only had 2.5.
You'll have to wait a bit more for second relese
This is patch 2.6 of TNS. If anyone has an issue with the download, feel free to ask.

the files wont show up after I download it if there's anything I can do to fix this please tell me I have rome total war gold on steam and I use a windows 8 laptop
There is a guide in the forums.
I'm getting this
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I was able to play this mod before and I have a 32 bit computer that is windows home premium
when i try to plat campaign mode it says please select from list? i try clicking the description and game mode but nothing
Are you sure you have clicked at the correct part? Also, is your game properly patched?
no it wont update its gold stuck at 1.3 and bi 1.4
Download BI patch 1.6 from the Internet. For further technical help, look at this thread:
Twcenter.net
ok ill try it thank you. it says patch not compatible
Strange. Did you see the link I sent you?
yea i did thank for the help im curious though? if i take all the files currently in the Rome folder and move them and then run the patch and move files back in would that patch it?
Do you have any non-modfoldered mods installed? As far as I know, you just have to run the patch after downloading it.
i have the lord of the rings total wars fully running with one there sub mods the unit expasion from twc with it but thats all.
im gunna attempt my idea my theory is since the patcher wont see gold installed it will extract all the files ill need then remove every thing back into one place
didnt work still says gold installed not compatiable :/
LoTR:TW is modfoldered with the exception of a couple of files that spill into vanilla but don't replace original files, iirc.
You can patch your RTW/BI to 1.5/1.6 respectively with this: Strategyinformer.com
Uninstall TNS (delete the "ci" folder) before you apply the patch, and then re-install.
didnt work still says gold installed not compatiable :/ still cant get it to patch
That's weird, the link is provided by SEGA. Try googling "barbarian invasion 1.6 patch", maybe you'll have better luck?
You might also want to start a thread here, there's bound to be someone with the same problem that's found a solution: Twcenter.net
I do not know if LOTR:TW is modfoldered. If it isn't, you have to remove it and then install Fourth Age.
i have the steam version of RTW Gold and when i click the shortcut, it says steam not detected

As my earlier comment said, the installation is not the same if you have the Steam version.
Please follow the Steam-specific instructions provided here: Twcenter.net
If you still have a problem, please post in our forums: Twcenter.net
got it running right thank you all for the help. now who to play frist......:)
As your first faction, I would probably recommend the Reunited Kingdom,if you already have some experience with the game.
I have the same problem. How did you fix it? Pls ^_^
Hi guys
Got a question. I got Windows 8 on my PC and i downloaded TNS 2.6 and istalled it in my TATW folder. Now as soon as I click on run for the new shadow it says that this app cannot be run on this PC! Does someone know anything how to fix this problem?
Thanks franky
You installed it in your TATW folder? That is the wrong place to put it.
Fourth Age: Total War runs ONLY on Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasion (Specifically Patch 1.6), while TATW is for Medieval 2.
There also happens to be a version for vanilla Rome which doesn't use Barbarian Invasion, but there is no tech support for it.
Have you guys considered adapting this mod to the improved Total War: Rome II game? If so, it would absolutely blow all other Tolkien-inspired games out of the water.
That would be impossible. Rome II is a very hard game to mod, has removed several key features and the mod team's innovations would be impossible to recreate.
Also consider the following fact; Fourth Age: Total War has been in development in some form or another since the release of Rome I.
The amount of work that has gone to create this mod is truly astounding. Porting the mod after all these years, to an engine that is largely unusable would be an impossible task.
After all, the team refused to port to the Medieval II engine when it was released, and that one was not nearly as removed from Rome I's engine as the Warscape engine is.
Modding is not a simple matter, even to a basic level, much less to the level the Fourth Age team has taken it.
If I download 2.6, well I have to download the music downloads again as well?
If I remember correctly, the music is already in 2.6, so there is no need to download it.
Do you have a steam launch option for the mod
if you do what is it
I have posted a guide on how to install Fourth Age on the Steam version of RTW over on the forum.
Moddb.com
Wait, why are there only 6 factions to play with in the campaign? Whats with the Dwarf kingdom, and the Elves? Whats with the Orc Rabbles in the misty mountains? I mean, they were not eradicated in the third age after Saurons death. And most important, why is the map so small? Where is the rest of Middle Earth???
The mod follows a modular approach, which means the team has playable, but small releases until the final version.
The final version, along with the full map of Middle-earth, and the rest of the factions (18 in total) is scheduled to come out this year.
Hmm, okay then, I shall await that.
I cant play the campaign. I clack the choose a faction and it keeps telling me to choose a campaign. I am updating bi to 1.6. Will that fix the problem?
Yes. You need to have the 1.6 patch for Barbarian Invasion for the mod to work.
for some reason when i try to open the "Full build" Exe. an error pops up saying. This file contains invalid data
What have you downloaded?
So, you said you'll make the whole map with the dwarves and elves and stuff, from the northeastern angmar to the south western end of the mordor land, when sould we expect the next release? And one more question, does someone of you have time to teach me some Rome Total War modding please?
From the next release, you can expect the entire map of Middle-earth, about 18 playable factions, an entirely revamped gameplay experience unlike any other mod, and many other new features.
Many of them can be seen here: Moddb.com
As for modding, you can find many tutorials throughout the internet.

hello just wanted to know if I have to delete previous versions of this bone 2.0,1.4,1.5 mods, you can install the 1.6 and just installed it and it?
You need to delete the previous versions of the mod before installing v2.6.
Hi, I have a problem with this. I have BI 1.6, but it didn't give me an automatic unpack place. Therefore, I unpacked it in the RTW folder next to bi folder. It will not open. What can I do?
Thanks for any response!

You should put it in Barbarian Invasion. There is also a version for RTW but it has some features stripped out.
