Guys I need your help! Maybe you know of something! =D
I'm looking for a different version of this randomizer, but I don't know what version it was. There is video of it, the User Interface is slightly different and the code for the "Randomize Light Effects" also had an extra feature that put Lava textures whenever the randomizer made a sector into a Pain Sector (among these, there is one special Light Effect that makes you hurt without having any visible clue besides the light blinking, that feature was in the original game but I don't recall it ever being used)
For whatever reason, that feature was removed from later/final versions of D!Zone, resulting in Pain Sectors that don't have any visual clues for the player when you activate the "Random Light Effects" button.
If you know what version it is or how can I find it, please let me know. I will make that file available as well.

But no worry, I will find it.
And I will share here for everyone to enjoy it as well.
Because I'm not the same crap as you \o/

There is another issue I will have to fix (perhaps someone with access to any other DOS emulator that is not Dosbox will be able to get the program running)
I wasn't able to get the GenWAD program working (procedural map generator ancestor to Oblige) I couldn't get it working in Dosbox, maybe it needs some files specific for MSDOS 6.22 in order to run.
If someone can provide a copy of the directory with GenWAD already configured and installed, that would be great, I would be able to share all these files in a single package here so more people can enjoy this AMAZING piece of software from 1994.
We've seen some randomizers coming along in modern Doom mods, things like Reelism or Corruption Cards, but nothing quite like this original randomizer here that provides a truly "chaotic" experience.
I was so impressed with the fact that this randomizer finally makes the Heretic inventory items to become so important for survival. Things like Torch and Chaos Device become vital for survival with this randomizer due to the sheer number of enemies.

Can you believe the ******** in the Doomworld forums (Wadazine Doom magazine issue) called this D!Zone CD a "scam"? And they don't even mention about the existence of the Randomizers or any of the Mapping tools made available on the CD's, paired with easy to navigate menus too for easy installation.
I'm surprised to see how more "less insane" members of the community such as Doomkid involved in that crap. Maybe that's all the "doom community" is these days, specially at the Zdoom and Doomworld forums, just a bunch of ******** that take their lives a bit too seriously. ModDB community is much more productive and helpful in the way they interact.

A disgusting bunch of mods drunk on imaginary power who can't take criticism.

Their sychophants lately also has this weird fixation on making an automap that's bloated with lines to make it "pretty" but slows down the fps whenever I play their maps. I don't care if the automap looks "pretty" at all if you can't play sh.t.

Thanks for uploading this. I remember D-Zone in the 1990s and played it a lot. I actually purchased the cd too but lost it over the years. I think people call it a scam because the custom made maps there were from the community but back then I had 56k internet and couldn't use the phone at the same time as the internet so the cd containing a couple hundred user made maps really provided me with a lot of entertainment. I played a lot of BH wad with the randomizer on nightmare. Spent a lot of time holed up in the second floor of the cabin in the first stage of BH.wad playing it as a survival invasion game.

Thanks for the report. That's the spirit. It's a super useful set of tools in a time not everyone had the luxury of internet connection. People can have fun any way they like, no need to asking permission from internet ar$holes.

I'm still trying to find what is the version of this mod that has the feature of putting Lava floor textures for each time the randomizer uses Sector Pain effect. Not sure why they removed that.
