Check that you have installed the mod properly. This shouldn't happen unless you're using another mod that is incompatible with Redux (something such as the Double Barrel Shotgun add-on, when put into the "redux" folder", tend to break things like the HUD for example).

The HUD can be toggled on and off through the main menu under "gameplay/general" or using the rebindable hotkey for it (F1 by default).

working nw -after some testing - fresh install did the trick but whats super weird is .. my files are the same as old one - and also using alpha shotgun mod - working great ( hmmm this might be a Config clash issue) so maybe recc everyone do a clean Doom 3 install - just a suggestion .. if this issue crops up more

can you make a version of your ai mod for sikkmod? It would be awesome to have a mod that combines your ai mod and redux

Just wondering is this redux mod compatible with this, and if so, which one would I install first? thanks

Is there anyway to get it to run properly at 3440x1440p yet? .95b just stretched the image when I changed the resolution in the config files, and the fix from pc gaming wiki didn't work with the redux mod

Playing at 4k fine. Besides mars a tad stretched in the main menu the game looks great and so does the hud.

Great to see that the beta works on Mac too! (without Sikkmod's renderer unfortunately)

Sikkmod does not work with AMD (Radeon RX 570)

Great work otherwise!

Do I need a source port like Dhewm3 for this mod?

Tried the beta on "forgot map name" but it's choppy. 0.95b no issues on same map. I noticed the lighting changed in some areas but it's still dark if you know what I mean lol.

looking very good so far (great job, and the audio clips with background sound add to the atmosphere!), but it crashed loading mars_city2 (using redux 2.0rc on doom 1.3.1, dhewm3 1.5.0 w/ comp. patch pk3 and the provided sikkmod renderer). has this happened with someone else?

----- Game Map Shutdown -----
WARNING: idClipModel::FreeTraceModel: tried to free uncached trace model

Looking at the error message, I'm going to assume this is a rare vanilla crash that can be traced all the way back to the original release and is tied to physics. Though it could be something else entirely.

Is the crash in any way repeatable ? If it is, have you tried falling back to the original Doom 3 binaries and loading the same level save ?

EDIT: I have spotted a somewhat similar situation on one dhewm3's currently open issues ( Github.com ) so this could be related.

thanks for the tip! I'm currently playing redux with vanilla doom 1.3.1 instead of dhewm3, and it's working flawlessly - already at the administration level ;)

finished the game with vanilla doom 3! :) it's now my favourite way to play doom 3, hands down. just noticed some lowres textures, but nothing that distracted from the great quality of the mods. also, great job with the background sounds of the sound logs.

So I'm a bit slow, how do you enable Arl's improvements?

I'm also noticing that sikkmod isn't loading up either. But the alpha sounds for weapons are doing fine.

You need to download Arl's improvements on his own page: Moddb.com
Then move the included .pk4 file to the redux folder along with the compatibility patch.

About the custom maps that you were going to implement, you said that you would bundle them up in a separate installation. How is that coming along? Or are they already included in the RC version?

Thanks in advance, and great work!

I don't understand, I don't see any Sikkmod settings in the game anymore so i can't enable soft shadows. I was able to do it in the 0.95 version.

I just got a brand new gaming PC that is rippling with heavy muscles!

Unfortunately, I can't get Doom 3 Redux to install at all. I followed the instructions but it didn't work. Here is what I did:

I Downloaded 2.0 RC2. Next, I extracted the folder according to the instructions. I extracted it to the proper folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 3. I also went into the Steam configuration menu and entered this line: +set fs_game redux. To be clear, I copied this command line directly from the read me text file that came with Doom 3 Redux. Therefore, it couldn't be any syntax problems with how I typed it.

When I launched the game, I went to the options menu and clicked on "Mods" but there was only one thing showing there: "DOOM 3". I clicked that to launch it and it restarted the game but your mod didn't load! I even deleted the whole game via Steam and reinstalled it and moved 2.0 RC2 into a new folder I put inside the Doom 3 folder labeled: "Mods". Again, that didn't work either. Each time I launch the game and click on Mods: only "DOOM 3" shows up and launching this mod doesn't do anything. Can you please help me figure out how to do this with very straightforward step by step instructions? I'm sorry to bother you but I don't know where to turn.

Thank you for helping me with this,

Steve T.

UPDATE: I SUCCESSFULLY GOT DOOM 3 REDUX WORKING!

However, how do I get widescreen 21:9 working correctly? My Alienware 34" curved monitor AW3420DW is 3440x1440 but the video options don't give me this setting option. The closest I seem to get is 2560x1440. Thanks for helping.

Doom 3 doesn't support ultrawide resolutions by default. You need to use the dhewm3 source port along with the compatibility patch that's included with Redux 2.0 (see "Redux - DHEWM3.txt" for more details).

Does this build have the Sikkmod gameplay modifications, like being able to rebalance stuff in Old Doom style?

It will not, but I may upload additional compatibility patches for some of the more popular mini-mods in the future.
