Ever wanted the legends of the Zone to assist you in your journey to the centre of the Zone and beyond? This addon lets you do that.
This addon lets you take several characters from previous STALKER installments on your journey, ranging from Strelok to Vano and even more.
Probably requires Warfare Alife Overhaul for version 1.1 and above of this addon, since some necessary scripts were added based on Warfare Alife Overhaul's scripts. You'll only need it when playing with Warfare on. Make sure this addon overwrites that addon's scripts.
You can find the newly added characters here:
Outside Forester's place in the Red Forest, you can find Strelok and the rest of his group.
At the Hidden Base in the Great Swamps, you can find not-so-mercenary Scar.
At the Substation Workshops in Zaton, you can find Colonel Degtyarev with his SSU task-force.
Outside the bunker in Rostok, you can find Zulu.
At the Freedom base in the Army Warehouses, you can find Vano.
At the scientist bunker in Yantar
You can recruit them as your companions.
If you use the Improved Ranks addon or something similar, I've left commented rank values in character_desc_lostzone_ll.xml which are far larger than the default. All you have to do is remove the original <rank>#</rank> line and remove the <!-- --> comment parameters surrounding the new <rank>#</rank> line.
Not totally supported for Russian, but the names should at least be somewhat correct. This is because of the fact that I barely know the language (but I am trying to learn!).
Do let me know of any errors or bugs you come across. I'm also open to adding more characters and other features, so feel free to leave a comment to request one!
Update 1.3.2 Changelog
- Removed Desired from simulation.ltx. Published this update because Desired didn't have a character profile
Update 1.3.1 Changelog
- Used my version of the addon and changed some of those things to sort of remake version 1.3. Shouldn't be many issues now in regards to crashing (hopefully).
- ...accidentally left a self-insert of myself in the addon (since I typically play Azazel, so I thought it'd be nice for myself if I had my story character continue on in the world). To remove, just remove line 650 from simulation.ltx (should say 'desired').
- Correctly implemented the bump maps for the characters from CoP who weren't originally in Anomaly so Strider's head wouldn't be too shiny when SSR is enabled (and I know that's not the sole issue of not having a bump map for textures)
Update 1.3 Changelog
- Added Vano. He spawns at the Freedom base in Army Warehouses
- Added Kruglov. He spawns at Sakharov's bunker
- Added Sokolov. He spawns at the scientists' bunker in Jupiter
- Changed where Strelok spawns so he doesn't die in Pripyat to the Monolith occupying the Palace of Culture in Warfare mode
- Fixed resistances for the characters. Thanks to Grok for pointing out how to fix it!
- Isolated contents of files from vanilla ones to reduce conflicts
- Changed squad possession ability to be used in Warfare without the need of Azazel (this is if you want to play as one of the characters)
Update 1.2 Changelog:
- Added Strider, Armor, Sickle, Walrus, Meeker and Foma. They spawn at the Barrier
- Added Zulu. He spawns outside the bunker at Rostok
Update 1.11 Changelog:
- Encoded .xml files as Windows 1251 instead of UTF-8 so Cyrillic letters show. I use VSCode, so I'm sorry for those who played the game in Russian with the wrongly encoded text.
Update 1.1 Changelog:
- Added Colonel Degtyarev. He spawns at the Substation Workshops
- Added SSU faction to Warfare so Degtyarev doesn't weaponise CTDs
- Changed character_desc_lostzone_ll.xml to actually use the values for default ranks. You can revert them back by using the method described two paragraphs under
this mod available on with any other mod?
As long as nothing conflicts with the files, it should be fine.
Do they get placed into the ranking/squad system too?
Yes, they do. You'll see them at the top of the PDA leaderboard.
In Russian, the names of important characters are transformed into a random set of letters. Can this be fixed in the future, please? :)
I'll try and look into what characters the xml uses, since they show up as unknown symbols in the editor.
Fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Many thanks! :D
So if I play this mod with story mode will be there two Streloks and two Degtyarevs?
At one point, I believe so. If I look around in the files for long enough, I could make it so the story doesn't spawn in any new Streloks/Degtyarevs unless they're dead.
Thanks for replying and I also really like this mod and I hope it will become very popular :)
Will you be adding more important characters even if its lore-breaking? I just want some ''unique'' companions like Strider or Zulu.
That's a great idea! I'll look into adding Strider and his squad (probably under the Loner faction but I could figure out how to add new factions) along with Zulu and random Duty veterans soon.
Awesome! I always wanted Strider on my team because he is a real one being probably one of the first ex-monolith soldiers which is a special title. Glad you noticed me! Btw really great mod, I was hoping that someone would do this!
Added Strider (along with the rest of his team in CoP) and Zulu. Have fun!
You can check the STALKER Wiki Fandom if you want more characters to add and thank you VERY MUCH!
There is many characters I want added but it might consume too much of your time but thanks again! Having fun on my second game as a Dutyer!
Does this mod require a new game?
Yes, unfortunately. I can't really think of any workarounds, so this is pretty problematic for people who don't want to commit to a new game for these characters.
Desired03 I have great idea who you should add to this mod. You should add that charecter who finds Strelok near the death truck in the beginning of ShoC.
If he has a model in SoC's game files (or in one of the builds) then I'll do it.
Will you add Vano and Lt. Sokolov into this mod?
I was thinking of adding Vano in as kind of an opposite version of Zulu. I'll get to work on that and probably add in a few other characters.
I have one question. Can these npc's die when I leave them alone? I am asking this because when i am in the swamps I always see Scar wandering the map.
They can in fact die but this should hopefully be rare. If you're concerned about them, recruit them into your squad and take them somewhere safe before they get themselves killed trying to find stalkers of enemy factions to kill.
I see that you added a lot of charecters but could you add Col. Kovalsky and Lt Rogovets from Cop and does this mod work with invincable companions mod?
I'm pretty sure Rogovets is already in vanilla Anomaly at the military base in Agroprom. Also, this addon does work with other addons that make companions invincible (at least most addons).
When going to the bar, I encountered this error:
Expression : new_id.size()
Function : CCharacterInfo::InitSpecificCharacter
File : ..\xrServerEntities\character_info.cpp
Line : 61
Description : assertion failed
stack trace:
I think it should be fixed now. If not, you might have a conflict with the system.ltx file in my addon which tells the game to read the character info file, the NPC profile file and the dialogue file for the addon.
I updated the addon, but it still gives an error when trying to enter the bar. Are there any ways to fix this ?
Which addons are conflicting? That's all I can really think of that could be giving the error.
Dynamic Mutants can they be the source of the problem ?
No, I don't think so.
Check if any of your addons have a file called system.ltx. If they do, you have to follow the instructions in the 'Note for compatibility' text file.
I think I've found the source of the departure. This particular failure is often observed when the maximum number of ALife objects is exceeded. In fact, the game has run out of identifiers for providing new objects (an error in " new_id. size ()"). The culprits of the error are the squads of Striders and Shooters who have settled in the bar. In this regard, I have a question: is it possible to somehow remove one of these units without starting a new game ?
I'm not sure. I'm sure there's some way to do that by using the console in the Debug Menu and executing a command but I don't know too much about that to remove Strider and Strelok from your game.
I don't remember if it's already doable in vanilla, but if not, it would be great to be able to recruit Trapper (the stalker in Yanov station basement).
Good mod anyway. :)
I made an addon which allows you to recruit most important characters (special ones like Sakharov).

Missed that one! tx
Bro, even if you disable all addons, the game crashes. Version 1.5.1
Could you tell me when the game crashes and also send the last bit of the crash log?

Can you add fox, imp, Max, gatekeeper, chernobog, skull squad?
You should put Striders squad somewhere in Pripyat, since Strider dissapears in CoP before evacuation and is never seen again.
I like this mod a lot but is there any way I can recruit Hatchet or one of his guys too?
Will this mod work with this: Moddb.com ? Doest it need adaption? Pls answer me.
It's possible that there will be some issues with it, since this mod modified some files of an older version of Warfare ALife Overhaul, though it *might* be fine if you override this mod with the overhaul.
at least .. I could see Strelok group like lost alpha .. thank's that's mean's lot for me
