Extract the pak005.pk4 from the downloaded ZIP file into your
Doom \base folder.
The default should be:
c:\program files\doom 3\base
If you already have pak005.pk4 rename this file to pak006.pk4 and so on.
This sound pack provides stereo surround sounds for weapons like: Pistol, Shotgun, Machinegun & Chaingun, at the cost of no performance hit.
The Version 2.0 boasts some cool features:
You can now hear Pistol bolt action while firing, empty Bullets bouncing around & even rolling over for every weapon, cool shotgun fire sound, hear shotgun bolt action with ejecting shell casings & so on. Finally,the most exciting feature of this pack is the modified chaingun!
All these weapons now cause greater damages, knock enemies back & they do what they sound like.
I have tried a lot to make these sounds make your Doom 3 Experience far more emersive & entertaining than ever.
These sounds are modified from the original ones & some (e.g. Chaingun) are taken from the Trent reznor sound pack
with some more heavy modifications than version 1.

Version 2.0 Changes
Now you can clearly here empty bullets bouncing all over the place & then rolling over.
The version 1.1 pistol sound is now gone. This pistol sound has taken a new form. The sound conveys effects like pistol fire then impact trigered by the fire causing the bolt action & a bullet ejecting out.
Pistol now inflicts greater damage & knock enemies back a little.
The Shotgun sound is now more fine tuned than version 1.0. The shotgun damage is now little increased & it knocks enemies back by adequate extent. the shotgun bolt action sound now conveys shell casings ejecting out of the barrel.
The Machinegun sounds like a machinegun supposed to sound & blends in the sounds of empty bullets that are being punched out while firing.
Machinegun damage is only slightly increased.
Removed the old chaingun firing sounds.
The Chaingun firing sound is completely redesinged. Now chaingun takes a little while to spin up & to spin down, making you a little vulnerable to enemies closer to you for a while, but this is balanced by the icrease in chaingun damage. The spin up & spin down sounds are now modified accordingly. You can hear bullets being emitted while firing.
Version 1.1 Changes
Changed Pistol sound. New sound is much more beefier & seemlessly blends fire & bolt action.
Changed chaingun Acquire & chaingun reload sounds with totally new ones. Now They are more consistent with chaingun fire
& loop sounds.
Zombie chaingun commandos now use the same new sounds for firing, wind up & wind down.
Version 1.0 Features
you can now feel the actual bolt action while firing the pistol.
Stereophonic effects for Reload action & pistol use action.
Added a little bass effect to the sound. Check out the Cock action sound!
Totally new sound used for machine gun! (Not modified from original one) Modified reload action sound (stereophonic).
Uses sounds from Trent Reznor sound pack Which are heavily modified for stereo effects.
These are the changes made to the original trent reznor sounds for changun:
1) chaingun Wind up & Wind down sounds are now stereophonic, they use left right channel panning
2) weapon fire sound is almost revamped. Totally new sound introduced for motor looping.
The original Doom 3 sounds were mono for memory conservation. These sounds are optimized for even less memory use than the originals. Therefore You wont experience any performance hit. Infact, you can expect a performance gain!
