This mod adds a remote operated weapon ability to the game. So you can fire a weapon while sitting in the HMMWV.
A good man who goes by the name Fortran80 has released a Beta of the CROWS Weapons System for BF2. This is an add-on file which has to be implemented manually into your BF2 install (no self-installer) so modding experience is required. Good news is that both the Hard Justice and Nations @ War mods are looking into implementing this into their builds, so if you can't mod youself, you'll get your hands on this eventually through their own mods. But if you can't wait till then, here it is...

Allows the gunner to operate the turret from the safety of the HMMWV's interior. A custom control panel with LCD tv and joystick,
enables 360 degree horizontal rotation and -20 + +60 degree vertical rotation of the turret.
