Hey, it seems everytime I start Contra, my generals.exe changes which I assume is the one from the Decade Pack.
Is there any way I can avoid that? I want it to keep using the original generals.exe even with Contra.
Make a copy of the generals.exe you want to use and overwrite "generals.ctr" with it.
The drawbacks are that you won't be able to see people in network if you play online and the custom camera height won't work if you have a recent GenTool version.

I am fine with the drawbacks as I don't ever play any C&C game online and I'm very adjusted to the game's quirky camera.
how to download this its not the same as rise of the reds or shock wave mods they are wayyy simple but have very low LOW units and structurs

I don't think the devs are intending to do that. That might not fit their vision of gameplay.

hi, how do i enable the bosses for skirmish on origin? I tried use finalbig to open the !contra009final.ctr file and changing the playable sides for the 3 bosses to yes and deleting the ";" but the 3 bosses still do not show up
You can't. There is a hardcoded limit as to how many generals we can have in ZH-based games and we already reached that limit.
Either play on skirmish maps that contain boss dozers or install fan addons that give you access to all sorts of arsenals except general's powers.

correct me if I am wrong. it seems Tank GEneral has become too powerful especially on the Rank 3. THe stealth 5 star unit seems able to avoid detection too easy. the laser paladin tank feels too weak and too slow.
Tank general is supposed to be powerful. You'll need to bring in a lot of AT weapons.
Stealth super unit is supposed to avoid detection more easily than other units. Otherwise, it would be an impractical unit given its role.
I don't know what makes you think that the Laser Paladin is too weak but if it is slow, it's not just this one. Laser faction overall lacks mobility and compensates it with firepower and armor.
as far as i can remember the goal of contra MOD was balance. I don't really have the data to see that. but it feels like it isnt in-game with regards to Tanks strength. especially as it gains rank. the earth shakers AOE with aerial and stun and armored manticore. I think some of its abilities should be delayed at rank 5. like aoe or damage or armor. otherwise it can easily outran its counterparts at the same phase.
I think the Palladin received so much downgrade, mobility and firing rate. I'm not really sure. I only have the game experience locally for that.
Because you feel like it doesn't mean it is like it on a global point of view. If you aren't completely familiar with Contra yet, I suggest you to ask for tips from more experienced players, Watch some gameplays on Youtube, etc. Contra is a mod where proactive gameplay (meaning aggressivity, leading the offensive, "shooting first") is almost paramount. It's Zero Hour ++ so to speak. Allow yourself to fail, practice a lot, assess your arsenal, its pros and cons. Do not focus on just one unit. You have an army of varied units for a reason, take it at your best advantage.
