Description
This patch fixes most issues related to engine branch incompatibility and is designed to run using the latest "Beta" of Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer. Instructions on how to install and use it are within the archive.

When I start up the mod, it says 'materials/console/background01_widescreen.vtf'. Also a white screen appears.

Make sure you are using the 'Upcoming' beta of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Betas" tab.
- Change "Select the beta you would opt into" option to "incoming"
- Restart Steam.
You should also verify the integrity of your game's files. This might be the cause of your crashes, as you have invalid/corrupt game files.
- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Local Files" tab.
- Click "Verify Integrity of Tool cache..."
- Wait until game cache inspection is completed.
If it does not work, please let me know.

What you are saying is that the patch does not work?
Make sure that you downloaded Combine Destiny 1.0, and it's patch 1.1. Then you must apply the patch provided in this download.
I downloaded my fix and applied it, following the instructions in the readme.txt and it works.
If you encountered issues, I would appreciate to have a bit more information on where and how it happened.

This is an important point to take into consideration.
Thanks to @adryrain280390 for reminding me that the game might have trouble launching due to invalid game cache.
In future updates, I will make sure to add a recommendation to verify the game cache integrity before attempting to run the mod.

Have you correctly extracted the patch?
In the /cfg folder, you should have files such as chapter1.cfg, chapter2.cfg, chapter3.cfg, etc.
I recommend that you re-download the patch and follow instructions in the readme_fix.txt, which contains all information to properly setup.

If I understand what you are saying is that you are unable to start a new game from the main menu?
Please, make sure that you installed the following in this order:
Combine Destiny Full v1.0:

Combine Destiny Patch v1.1:

The 2013 archive contains information on how to correctly install it - You can find this in the file Readme.txt.
If you have other questions, please let me know.
I know this is a Patch and all that, but at some point in the future when you have time to spare do you think you can make a Gameplay Mod for Combine Destiny that adds in the things that Combine Destiny 2 was gonna have?
Things like: Unique HUD, Nightvison, Deployable Manhacks, and the Sniper Rifle.
And some additional things like Zombines, Combine Medics, Alyx's Gun, SLAM's, ect.
TBRH Combine Destiny still feels like your average Half-Life 2 Mod, but if you made a Mod that included some or all of the things I mentioned it'd make it fun, unique, & stand out from the vast majority of HL2 Mods.
