Part 1 of 2. Instructions: Once part 1 and 2 have been downloaded rename the files to include this format blackmesa.zip.001 for part one and blackmesa.zip.002 for part 2. Extract and copy files into sourcemods/BMS in your steamapps directory.
IT'S FINALLY HERE! Congrats to the developers, can't wait to play this. Also can't wait to let my little sister play this, she's going to play Half-Life for the first time, what a perfect time!
Hello everyone, just letting you know I have updated the install instructions since there is some confusion on how to compile the packages. If you can please upvote so everyone can see how to fix it.
Instructions: Once part 1 and 2 have been downloaded rename the files to include this format blackmesa.zip.001 for part one and blackmesa.zip.002 for part 2. Extract and copy files into sourcemods/BMS in your steamapps directory.
Downloaded both parts and part 1 is a .001 file and part 2 is a .002 file...Both are already blackmesa.zip.001 and blackmesa.zip.002 respectively so, explain exactly what it is that we have to rename/format since it seems that it is already renamed/formatted?
The part one file is only 71.31 MB, which, just can't be right. I know it's compressed, but 2.7gb down to 71 MB? The second part as well is 421.41mb, which is strange again because it's smaller than the first from the start.
Assuming these are just split zip files, you could try to combine them with HJ split (People upload like this on rapidshare and such because they have a limit on how much you can upload and what not) but even then, when I did, it simply didn't work. Probably because 71MB ISN'T EVERYTHING.
Also, you could probably just rename the 001 and 002 to zip files and extract, but that doesn't always work because sometimes they NEED to be combined.
PRETTY SURE I'm missing something, or missing a key point completely, so some clarity would be nice. For now, just find a torrent or another mirror to download from.
if it still matters 2 years later - The download failed. A lapse in communication between your downloading application and the server caused it to think the download was complete, which it was not. This can be prevented by stopping all other downloads on your home network and/or using a download manager (IDM).
Hey, I know this post is 18 months old, but I am stuck. I Downloaded and extraced all the files into sourceMods/BMS/ ...
but there is no .exe file?
How do you launch this mod?
Ok after some effort I finaly found out how to successfully extract those files. How can one uncompress two ".00<a >" files? WinZip and WinRAR don't recognize them with an acceessible format decoder (nor zip nor rar files). They are 7zip files.
1- Download 7zip form 7-zip.org and install it, then open it (Start it).
2- From within its own "explorer", navigate to the folder where you downloaded both .001 and .002 files.
3- Select them both, and on the toolbar click the "Extract" button.
4- A Dialog Window pops-up; In the "Extract to" field, use "..." button on the right to navigate where you want to extract the game files assets. In my case:
E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS
NOTE: in my case BMS didn't exist, I had to create it before hand so as to navigate to it from within 7zip.
5- CLick "Ok" and wait as it will take a while.
Now, maybe that it won't show up after restarting Steam. In may case I can see a new entry for "Source SDK Base 2007", but clicking "Play" brings me to a demo where a camera wanders in a harbor (I don't control anything). Looks like the engine is installed but that's it..
1-Completely Quit Steam.
2- Using your file explorer, navigate where Steam has been installed. In my case:
E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\
3- Delete the folder named "appcache"
4- Restart your computer and try to launch the game from Steam
And finally.. Nothing else then "Source SDK Base 2007" has been added in my Steam Library. And clicking its "Play" button still only shows a test clip... Does someone knows what to do, please?

You remind me of my mate, he is also a paedophile.
Why is he your "mate" then???
Don't hate brah.
Mate is the way we say bro or friend.
No crap dude. What I'm asking is why is he a friend of a pedophile?
"Mate is the way we say bro or friend."
We being the English-speaking world..
||Mate is the way we say bro or friend.
To wipe your arse, first orient your hand behind yourself, then move it up. Or down.
What he meant by mate was "Friend"
@VGames Look at his username.
Why is mate in quotation marks? Feigning ignorance is pathetic, speaking English properly.

You will need to enable file extensions in your file browser.
I read that entire post in a baby's voice on account of your baby avatar there. Sorry about that.

It was originally named something else, we changed it on the backend system to make it easier to install.
So it means i dont need to rename it?
THANK YOU!
This did nothing.
It still crashes my totalcomd... and now It doesnt even show it as a packed file...
I don't have BMS in my sourcemods
In that case, you need to create it.

I would advise to let her at least play the original game before the remake, but that's just what I would do.
