Better Intelligence 2.0 mod.
The goal of this mod from migthegreat is to make Intelligence affect the player's ability to learn, with the intention of adding realism and making Intelligence more useful beyond the simple function of adding magicka points.
In the normal game, Intelligence has less effects than any other attribute, so this mod is also a balance for that. What I have done is make the player's Intelligence attribute linked to the benefits of training as well as the skill benefit of reading, which simulates a superior capacity to learn.
As you become smarter, the cost of training will lower, simulating quicker learning, which would reduce how much training time is necessary and thus the price.
A higher Intelligence attribute also increases the number of times you can train per level, simulating a greater mental capacity for learning, and the ability to develop more from every block of life experience.
Your Intelligence also affects how much you gain from reading books. After all, a smarter individual will comprehend the material more, and learn more from it.
You must now have at least an Intelligence level of 40 before you are literate enough to gain any useful knowledge from reading the book, but as your Intelligence grows, the benefit will increase to a maximum of 3 points per book.
If you first read a book at 50 intelligence, you would gain one skill point, and then if decided to read it again at 100 Intm you would comprehend more of it, and gain the remaining 2 skill point you missed before, finishing with a max of 3. (hint: hold onto your books)
If your Intelligence is 40-60 ,you gain (1) skill point - if its 60-80 you gain (2) total, and if its 80-100 you gain (3) total - which is the max.
(The only teaching book I couldnt alter was The "Refugees", because altering messes with a certain quest.)
In addition to adding depth to the Intelligence attribute and the process of gaining skills, this system creates a lot of new possibilities because it is now beneficial for any class to be intelligent, even a warrior. This is realistic because a smarter warrior would be able to learn technique's and strategies quicker. It also creates a good reason to use a race like the Imperials as opposed to an orc or nord, if you prefer a skillful warrior over a borderline retarded brute.
Requirements
YOU NEED OBSE Oblivion Script Extender, v0009a or higher
Obse.silverlock.org
Note:
To use Shivering Isles with OBSE you need to install the official 1.2 patch before installing Shivering Isles.
v0009b and later include beta support for Oblivion 1.2.0.214 (Official Oblivion 1.2 patch)
Future Plans
This mod is almost complete except for the most complicated feature, linking Intelligence to the speed at which mental skills advance. This feature may unbalance the game by making Intelligence influential, which is why it will be an optional esp.
