This mod fixes a rather unpleasant feature of the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood which is a bright gradient on the top of the screen. To install this mod just copy all the files from the archive to the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood game folder. DONE, enjoy! P.S. It does not work with Steam or Uplay overlays switched on! Your game will most likely crash on start.

Thank you so much for fixing this issue (which the incompetent developers at Ubisoft did not deal with, despite the countless complaints they received back in 2011). I installed Brotherhood today and have only spent about thirty minutes looking for a fix. I can tell you that I've gone through at least a dozen threads (most of them on Ubisoft's own forums) where there was no help or reassurance for a patch. When I found this mod I was especially satisfied to see the release date, which is very convenient for me. I'll be honest, at this point you are like a hero. I had to make an account to express my thanks (: and I hope this is well-recognized as a fix to a problem that dated back more than three years, which had people complaining (even to this day). Now I will go and install your mod! Thanks again! (:
Is there anyway to use this alongside Sweetfx?
Yes, you Can definitely use this along sweetfx

The steam version crashes on launch if you copy the "d3d9.dll" file in..any solutions?
Confirmed. Steam version, All overlays off, Steam AND UPlay. Crash on Startup
It worked for me, steam version, win 7 64x. The game used to crash but not anymore after disabling the overlay. To do that, when inside the Uplay launcher, click on the gear icon near the upper right corner to go to the Settings window. Inside Settings, make sure the check box "Enable in-game overlay for supported games" is UNCHECKED. After that, close Settings and click on the "Play" button to launch the game. If you already did that, I'm sorry I couldn't help.
Many, many, many thanks for this fix. It's a lot better. On my way to share it with the French community, I'll be some kind of hero.
I tried the "White Gradient Fix" but for me all it did was make the white haze turn to a black haze. It also makes the screen flashing/blinking in the game more noticeable.
I coppied the files into the game folder but it is still not working? Can you explain a little more what I need to do?
Nice, works fine... this can also be proxied through ENB, very helpful

Sorry to say that, but what a half-assed work... Seriously, i can clearly see that you didn't remove it, you only darkened it. Yeah, it does kinda fix it since its not as noticeable, but in some cases it adds too much black/contrast thing on top of screen. Nice try though. I cant say i can do better and to be honest i don't really know how to, but if you started to work on this then don't just half-*** it. Works fine otherwise, besides being just dark instead of white.
Well... after 3hrs of testing I've finally found a solution for that annoying top gradient, it was white but as other user stated its black now... thankfully the mod helped me to fix it completely.
Here you can modify the values in the Pixel Shader override 5D36AB32.txt file, a simple value change in c3.wmul 2nd r0 was enough, feel free to tweak to your preference.
Lazy ubisoft developers you ruined an otherwise graphically great lookin game.

Thank you for the immense effort and research you've put into this; your solution works! However, you explained it *very* poorly and you haven't pointed out the solution that most people are looking for.
People who have played the game may have noticed that the annoying overlay completely goes away when Ezio is about to get desynchronized. This happens, for example, when you're too far away from your mission objective target. It can easily be verified in the very first mission in Vatican by letting uncle Mario walk a bit and then going back.
Your solution makes it so that overlay is permanently gone, just like you were about to get desynchronized. I have uploaded the whole mod along with the modified file here:
Mediafire.com
In case the download goes down or if someone wants to quickly fix it on their own...
Open /ShaderOverride/PixelShaders/5D36AB32.txt and change the line:
mul r0, r0, c0.x
to
mul r0, r30, c0.x
That's it. Change the second r0 to r30 and the overlay is *gone*. Cheers to res0nat0r and Tidy_Bloom.
Thank you so much for fixing this! The only reason this game would need color correction or an enb is because of that horrible gradient, and now that it's gone the game looks beautiful :)

Your file or the other file doesn't work for me.
I decided to fire up AC:B again and, for some reason, the fix with the line
mul r0, r30, c0.x
didn't work for me anymore, but looked like this: I.imgur.com
Pretty scary ****. I messed around with the values some more, and it seems changing it to
mul r0, r0, c0.xy
got it working again. So here's the updated files (plop into installation folder and overwrite): Mediafire.com
and here's a before/after album to remind people what it does: Imgur.com
Let me know if that got it working for you again.
Okay, I didn't fix it entirely; it was much better but still present. I actually went ahead and googled what this mod does, and I think I've figured it out enough to actually fix it along with a little explanation inside the text file.
Here's the new download:
Mediafire.com
Note that this is still for the old 1.03 version from 2011. If you have the newest version and want it fixed, PM me and we'll work something out, and upload it for everyone else.

Glad I could help, sorry if I wasn't clear enough with the solution.
Btw many effects can be changed with that file, like the psychedelic rainbow effect :)
A recent Ubisoft patch appears to have messed up this fix. I've tried manually correcting the PixelShader text file with no luck. The gradient was completely fixed up until this latest patch. Suggestions anyone?
This mod is not working for me. Even after I change the mul thing to 30 instead of 0
Not working for me. Even tried to set it to "psychedelic rainbow effect" to see if the file was having any effect on the game and nothing changed.
Is this still working for anyone on the newest uplay version? Because it isn't for me. Any tricks to get it to work again??
Tried Uplay version in windows 7 and Windows 10. This mod isn't working, at all. Is it still working for anyone or has an update messed it up?
Would love an updated version of this, if anyone has one.
I took the liberty of linking the modded file directly, just copy the folder contents inside the main ACB folder people:
Mega.nz
Greets!
Does it work with the latest Uplay update? I can't get it to work and I am unsure if I'm doing something wrong or if Uplay updating just broke the mod for everyone.
Yeah I used to have this working and it was fantastic. But it seems with a recent update to the game this fix no longer does anything. Does anyone know a way around this?
Can't get the mod working either :l any help would be appreciated.
New mod with working files for both old and new versions of AC:B: Moddb.com
Cheers to roxasamm for helping me out. :]
