March Entertainment is an Ontario-based digital entertainment company and award-winning producer of branded digital content for TV, film, Internet and wireless platforms.
The core team at March was born on the web in the mid-1990s, gaining global popularity for their Gemini-nominated Chilly Beach property. Chilly Beach won RealNetworks’ Streamer Award for “Most Entertaining Site” and become one of the first Internet series (circa 1997) to make the full transition to network television. The show currently plays on CBC in Canada and has been referred to as “Canada’s Simpsons.”
Since the launch of Chilly Beach in 2003, March has created several successful television properties. Highlights include Yam Roll (78 episodes, several web games), G2G: Got to Go! (26 episodes, 1 game) and Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist (26 episodes, 1 movie, 2 games). The Dex Hamilton franchise is now in its second year of distribution and can be viewed in more than 70 countries.
March has produced four full-length animated films, most recently completing the 3D/CGI interactive DVD movie The Secret of Pirate Island for Playmobil, whose toys accounted for five of the top 30 toys globally in 2008. March is currently in production with two more interactive CGI movies for Playmobil, as well as a $12.6-million (CDN) international co-production called Mia and Me. A kids’ fantasy series featuring a blend of live action and CGI animation, Mia and Me is slated to premiere in 2011 on Germany’s ZDF. Not forgetting its roots in Flash animation, March is also producing a series called Pet Squad for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Los Angeles-based Sony Pictures International distributes the property.
March maintains more than 20,000 square feet of studio space in their production facilities in Toronto and Sudbury, Ontario.
