We're a bunch of Outcast fans who are also interested in game development. When Outcast 2 was canceled some years ago because Appeal went bankrupt there was only one solution: Create our own inofficial sequel!

open Outcast is the upcoming unofficial sequel for the 1999 classic PC game Outcast being still developed as a Total Conversion mod for Crysis Wars while we'll definitely move to Cry Engine 3 SDK as soon as it gets released. We are a multinational, devoted group of talented people working on this project in our freetime with the aim of creating a game of the same quality as current commercial titles. Achievements so far:
- February 2010: Release of the first public tech demo: Oasis
- April 2010: Video Demonstration of our custom Dialogue System supporting nonlinear Dialogues
- May 2010: Video Demonstration of free travelling (persistence system) and our custom Quest System and questlog UI
- September 2010: Release of the second public tech demo: Oasis 1.1
- December 2010: Nominated for MOTY 2010, category Editors Choice - Best Original Art
Currently we're preparing our next (and final Cry Engine 2 based) demo that's scheduled for this summer.
To speed up development and increase the general quality of the release we're looking for:
- Female Voice Talent: You have access to good recording equipment and will guide the player by becoming the voice of the HUD.
- Flash Artist / Action Script Programmer: You are experienced in Flash design or AS scripting and will be working on the User Interface.
- Gamedesigner: Designing quests and thinking about game mechanics is fun for you and you aren't afraid of learning new tools or do some scripting. You will work on the very core of the game and have to discuss and exchange ideas with artists and programmers alike.
- Writer: Writing essays, plays or poems is a way to express yourself and you want to enrich the story and dialogues of open Outcast with your contribution.
