Apokryphos Development Team company

Apokryphos is a single player mod that will be developed for the CryEngine. It takes place in a afterlife world that totally went out of control. We are currently working on the storyline and the gameplay ideas. There will be a mod page when we have some real progress , but for now this group should be sufficient. What happens to us when we leave the spheres of life, when our lifetime on earth comes to an end?
Are heaven and hell really the places we will spend our eternal life in?

No, no life ever is eternal. If we die, heaven and hell are only a place where we spend another fractional amount of our being in. What lies beyond is where we get when we exhale our spirit after yet another phase of life in either hell or heaven. Our spirits will be dragged into an abyssal gorge leading to a place of overwhelming foreignness. There, hell is heaven, this terrifying place is known as "Apokryphos", the world that lies beneath.

Being the third cycle of life the human race starts doubting the sense of life. Why trying to live in a society, why caring for rules when there is another chance after all over and over? Apokryphos has turned into a place of constant terror and suffer; there are only few people which try to keep up the old order with every method required.

To start off giving you an idea of what Apokryphos is like you should know that this world is completely different from what earth is, the climate is barren, there are heavy catastrophes quite often, there are regions completely unexplored, those who did enter never returned back in the save zones where those people we mentioned before try to ensure a life with a primitive form of law. They simply call themselves "The Elected", they are very well armored and lost all empathy whilst gaining the awareness that life may be fading but never ending. For them killing is an act of salvation. In their thoughts every kind of freedom and acting against every so small rule will be punished with immediate execution of the performer.

The cities there are a mixture of architecture and cultures from dozens of centuries all put together in one place. Some of the old buildings got replaced by newer ones. Cities are diffused over only certain parts of the landscape, the part under the surface is as good as uncivilized, scientists expect this zone as a sanctuary for the aborigines, a threat we will get to know later.

The major problem of this world is that life lasts even longer than it did in heaven or earth, our benchmarks are far too narrow minded. There are still human beings from extinct cultures who are simply called the ancients. They neither speak modern languages nor do they bow to the "Elected". Every try of civilizing them ended in merciless slaughter. Next to the ancients exist the shrouded in mystery native „people" . Even though they seem quite human, they ain't. Everyone who faces them should better try to get away from them, they are terrifying flesh eating monsters.
