Overhaul/modding resource for medieval 2 user interface. Download and use it as it is or edit it and implement it to your mod.
Installation:
1. Backup ..."your_mod"/data/menu folder if you want to revert the changes
2. Move the downloaded files from the default folder to the ..."your_mod"/data/menu folder
3. Replace all files
4. Launch the game
If the main menu background isn't wide enough for the text, you can use the mtw2.lnt from DaC version.
Changing the background image:
1. Go to ..."your_mod"data/menu/textures
2. Open the backdrop.tga file with GIMP/Photoshop etc
3. Edit the image as you wish and when done, extract/save as tga file
4. Make sure that the image is not larger than 1024x768. Higher resolutions may cause issues with the new menu
Editing the Campaign menu pictures:
- To edit the special unit picture, search for the line "special_unit_art" at line 9568
- To edit the map image, search for the line "empty_art2" at line 9854
- For the hotseat, the lines are 26292 and 26636
- special unit and map pictures are reversed for DaC version
1. To adjust the position, edit the Parameters 350 and 415 values (Note: The coordinates are taken from 1024x768 layout)
2. To adjust the size, edit the 320 and 176 values
- Whenever changing the width of of something you should change the value 1/2 of the increased/decreased width. So if you increase the width by 20 pixels you should decrease the by 10
GIMP assets:
If you want to edit the looks of the menu overhaul, the download includes a GIMP file with the different parts of the menu.
Just open the layergroup you want to edit and when finished, replace the tga in data/menu with the edited version.
