This is the fourth and I think the last version of retexture for the VSS-Vintorez Sniper Riffle for CoC. It's a new and polished version of the gun.
VSS-Vintorez Redefined
This is a retexture of the VSS-Vintorez Sniper Riffle (Vintar BC)
The textures are using the standard model/mesh from CoC, which are
(as far as I know) the same like in ShoC, so this textures should work
with ShoC as well.
Most parts of the Diffuse Map are made from scratch and
a few parts are importet from different mods but heavily modified.
After I finished the normals ( Bump- and bump# maps ), I fine-tuned the diffuse and
specular map to achieve proper lighting behavior and reflections.
Textures are 1k uncompressed diffuse/bump and 1k DXT5 bump#, 12 MB in total.
I had to do it that way to avoid unwanted artefacts from compression,
especially in the scope.
The gun is for more experienced stalkers who are rich enough to afford a brand new riffle,
ore rather the best Sniper Riffle in the game ( In my humble opinion ).
And may be - who knows - you can find one exemplar out in the world, one of these days.
So, good hunting stalker !
Keep the thm files along with the textures, they are important too !
Textures are created with Gimp 2.8.6 and the Normal-map plugin.
Usage
1. If you already have a good texture for the vintorez:
Take a look at your "wpn" folder under "gamedata\textures" and make a backup of everyting
that starts with "wpn_vss"
2. Unpack the content of the archive to your CoC folder and you're done.

It an ok retex, texture looks nice, but it looks too clean and crisp to be in a stalker game. Needs more wear and tear, if you know what i mean. Still, good effort.
Of course I know waht you mean.
I'm playing the Stalker Games since years and now I'm fed up with all this tattered and jammed weapons *g*
I decided to create some new ones for personal use and load one of it up, just in case somebody else might like it too.
Thanks for your comment ;)
meh
very nice bro... sounds a bit like a goat :-D
It's nice but it has to be. Little.. Eeeeeee, dirty? I mean - weapon in Chernobyl won't be fabric-new. It would take damage/dirt when it's travelling from Russia or other country to Chernobyl
All these people saying it shouldn't be clean. Why shouldn't it? Why would a factory-new weapon put in a crate and loaded on a truck heading for the Zone and then being sold to a rich stalker be dirty? Just because something is in the Zone it needs to be full of rust, scratched and mud?
Lore-wise, weapons like the VSS would only be imported through the Ukrainian military. This weapon is not on the market. Only pristine-condition rifles would exist. So why would a rare military rifle imported by the military be old and muddy? I doubt you guys even think before you speak. I'm tired of everyone complaining about "too clean" textures whenever a new mod shows up. Go play Misery if you want unrealistic muddy guns
agree myself. tired of everything needing to be broken rusted or dead. it's chernobyl, not silent hill. have you ever seen a picture of the place? beautiful lush landscape full of green and life. not everything needs to fit your post apocalyptic view of the zone. and only some of the zone is dead or full of radiation by lore. if i remember correctly the ending of shadow of chernobyl has strelok peacefully laying on a lush green hillside and even the surrounding area is full of life.
Thanks for your thoughts, which are very close to mine. Much appreciated ;)
I like it, you should make a l85 or svd
Glad you like it, thanks for let me know :)
Step by step I will take most of the weapons for a retexture. Right now I have the Ak-74, MP5 and the UDP-Compact nearly finished. My standard weapons in the Game but still needs a little work.
Not a bad design, bit it's looks a little bit plastic and the wood looks... Unnatural.
But, like the other guy said, this is just the start for you.
Okay Mr. Kazemeka, this sounds like something I can deal with.
1. Sorry for deleting your first posting, because there was onstructive criticism in it, I know. After I noticed your second posting, I was already kind of ****** that I deleted all of your entries.
That was not really fair, I offer my apologise.
(By the way, I reworked the bumps and I think they look a bit better now, thank you :-)
2. I did the texture for personal use in the first place and it was never intended to provide them. After all I thought: why not share them for those who might like a clean and new looking weapon too.
I didn't wait for praise and I didn't wanted any thanks or something else. But comments with a single 'meh' as content or 'your textures look like ****' are not acceptable. I don't like it and I don't have the time to deal with such a crap.
With your previous posting it felt to me like you wanted to go in a similar direction.
Most of the criticism comes anyway from different opinions. I know that a fabric-new gun is not primary compatible with the stalker lore. But with this texture I want it that way. I was sick after all this years
to look still at this muddy and tattered weapons. My char owns more than 1 million Rubel and it was time for something new *g*
Sorry again for my quick deleting hand in your case. I'm now sure that you did not have earn it. ;)
you are just an idiot...
like yourself :]
heh, what a childish thing to say. he's right you know. he shouldn't have to put up with such immature behavior. either way he made it and decided to share it with you. if your going to attempt to give crit you could at least take some yourself when someone tells you your acting like a fool. either way you don't HAVE to download it if your taste is not similar. but down rating his mod and throwing insults at him simply because it dose not match your "artistic vision" shows your mental capacity.
The main thing is, that you are smart *g* I can easily live with it ;)
