Vertigo is obviously a vertical based map, the idea was to stray away from the usual horizontal battles and do something that is more vertical instead.
There are 4 towers aligned in a zip zag patter.
The 2 end towers are of the same design, and the 2 middle towers are of the same design.
The path of travel is and up and down style as well.
In the CTD game mode, both teams start at the bottom of their towers at opposite ends of the zig zag, their diamond is approximately half way up the tower.
Players have to make their way all the way up to the top before crossing to a middle tower, in which they need to travel all the way back down the bottom before crossing over to the other middle tower and going back up, finally crossing over to the enemy tower and going half way down to get their diamond.
The reason that team spawn points are at the bottom of the tower is because it then becomes a game of catchup. If players get killed, they start from scratch, if the player is killed where their diamond is, and someone steals the diamond, the player who managed to get so far, will have a lead in order to get away and back to their base. But that doesn't mean that he is safe, FAR from it ;)
