Description

These are the first five maps for Doom I've ever created. I created these in collaboration with my best friend who recently died from Covid. Just didn't feel right to makes these anymore. Thought I would polish them up and release them. **NEW! Added new map E1M5 and minor visual tweaks to all maps.

Thanks, y'all. It means a lot to me. He was my best friend for 27 years. It's hard to forget someone you knew for that long.

On E1M1, there are several parts where you are going to die from barrels at least once because the room is full of imps and the chain explosion covers the entire room. Also, the fog makes it really hard to see enemies even with a flashlight. There are alot of maze parts to make the unfinished map pack seem longer. The level design in E1M2 was great, TOO BAD YOU CAN'T SEE ANY OF IT
E1M3 was fine, I liked it. Seems like it would be fun with a mod like Death Foretold or Zion. There are parts on E1M4 where you get stuck in doorways by pinkies and lost souls while imps and shotgunners light you up. On every map it's really hard to find the exits or keys because the maps are too open and there's no way to know if you're going where you're supposed to. Would like to see this finished/revamped.

-Barrels are environmental hazards.
-Fog does make it hard to see. Good thing it's only limited to the outside areas!
-I wasn't aware of any unfinished mazes. There are a couple small mazes, though.
-E1M2 requires a flashlight by design.
-The maps are designed to be pretty straight forward. I hate key hunting and the design reflects that. Keys are placed where the player can see them with no obtuse puzzles to obtain them. These levels are not Doom 2 Sandy Peterson inspired.

Sorry for the death of your friend.

I'm a mapper from time to time for Brutal Doom, and my signature map, Broken H-eart-h was created under rough conditions on April 14 with the death of my grandfather, so I can imagine.
