*Introduction*
I think it's been quite a while since we didn't have any decent SSGs at our service? You're welcome to relive your most favourite Brutal Doom moments with this one, modelled off a real IZH-43 double-barrelled shottie. I've tried my best with the sprite frames in terms of quality and detalization, it's all as realistic as possible, even the unloading frames include extraction, just like it is IRL, however, I know that some things might be done even better, there are plans on eventual enhancements in the future. Hope you enjoy the add-on.
Put "SSG.pk3" file from inside the archive into your Brutal Doom folder, make sure it's placed in the end of the cmd line, no matter what it would be containing already. Example: C:\ent\bdoom\zandronum.exe "BrutalDoomdv21Beta.pk3" "ADAMP.pk3" "SSG.pk3"
Version 1.3 change-log:
- Reloading sequence is now is as realistic as possible! Doomguy manually extracts the shells from the chambers and throws them away, just like it is actually supposed to be happening!
- Better fingers on various frames
- Even smoother frame positioning
- Even better world model
*V1.3 Demonstration*
Now let the buckshot flow!
interesting
the idea is good , my suggestion for this is add more damage and use the same texture color as the normal ssg . this is another texture from another shotgun with a touch old Moddb.com
1) Damage won't anyhow change from one shotgun to another (the bore is always the same, being 12 gauge), the only thing that may be different is the buckshot pattern, since the longer barrels with chokes provide better grouping of the buckshot. However, my goal for this add-on is for it to be probably included in the future versions of Brutal Doom, so I won't ever touch any gun configs anyhow, just purely the sprites. Balancing (such as damage, refire-rate etc.) is not my concern, it's all up to the developer of the mod. 2) Texture colours will stay the same as they are here, since I strife for more real look. I might, however, update the main frames in the future versions, in case I manage to get better images of the gun (it's quite hard to get those, lighting and background must be reasonable, as well as the camera focus on both lever and the end of the barrels;
it's one of a tricky job actually). If you don't get the idea, I own this gun, all the frames are exclusively mine, it's not an import from any other game of any sorts.
What's he shooting? .410 shells? Barrels are weak looking. Too thin and way too long. Would never use in a demon invasion.
It's like it is in real life. You're prolly to used to game bullcrap. Also, I'm not going to make it half-screen big just so it looks larger "cus it has to be in a game". Go compare the vanilla shells and these, it's all the same, but different angling.
They way you've got it angled it would be shooting below the crosshair by a lot. You need to angle it better so it looks like it's actually aiming at the crosshair and so it's barrels don't look like smaller gauged barrels. I shoot guns a lot IRL and own several. This looks off.
On the matter: It looks exactly how it is IRL with my gun, believe it or not. Checked it dozens of times, killed the whole day to make those mainframes look as authentic as possible. Remember, it's not a short-barrelled one. It's 72cm barrels, not 51 or any shorter bullcrap which barely exists in the world.
And now to the angle: it differs nohow from the vanilla, you don't have the straight line of view between your eyes and the sights, you look a bit from above. I'd call it half-sighting, and it fits the game nicely, it is how it was in original and is in BD, just that local SSGs were much shorter barrels. If Sergeant decides to introduce sighting with Super Shotgun, I will happily make sighting frames with no probs.
Now as a side-note: how long it's been without a really genuine SSG model made with dedication and much attention to details? Around 24 years I assume? If you're such a demanding customer, perhaps you'd create one for yourself to show us what the quality means? Not to sound offending, but man, it takes a lot of time and efforts to make such content for me, and what I get instead of thankfulness is a bit disappointing.
I'm pretty sure the guy is just giving you his personal opinion, not condemning your work.
Also, it would be very easy to copy the decorate code for the standard shotgun sights mode to the ssg, provided you had the sprites.
My personal goal is sprite work only, however I can provide you with sighting ones if you can set that in game.
hi
I like this good work bro.
Thanks for the warm words. Currently working on better reloading mechanics.
Nice work, m8. I love this. 10/10
Thank ya, comrade.
Good old 12 gage goodness! 10/10
Actually looks awesome, it's hard to get used to it since the original SSG sprite is from a sawed off toy shotgun, but it gets to look stylish when sprinting.
I know that the original pump-action was copied off Tootsie toy shotgun, however heard nothing about the actual SSG.
It's awkward that American developers couldn't get their hands on real weapon for modelling purposes.
