collection of the OSJC's contribution to sof in the form of some skins
OSJC's SOF Platinum skins compilation.
having found this version of SoF on moddb I thought I'd share some of the skins I've made over the years to generally improve the look of the weapons etc in game and to give optial alternatives.
put this in your 'base' folder
this is considered the MAIN pack which gives new skins for:
dekker, sensible skin - no longer a poor-man's power-ranger drop-out, dekker is now clad in combat vest and trou, with a simple black pull-over mask to secure his identity. still obvious enough to be a character, yes, but less overt in design so he fits in with this personal guard more and seems a bit more 'real-world' this way.
A classic villan in the style of say, Simon Gruber from die hard 3, much how Alexis Nachrade was portrayed in sof2...
weapons, view and world models:
Buck 'hunter' knife - super shiny version as seen in sof beta screenshots
Glock - took the compensator off so it now has a cleaner look, altered the grip on the slide to better simulate the look of a glock17.
Desert Eagle - classic chrome stainless
(the silver talon that appears in sof2 multiplayer uses the same model as the silver talon in sof1. however the skin is much larger and, as such, much more detailed. with this in mind I have ported the new skin into this pak for use in sof1)
Silenced Mac11 - full-black edition, for those even stealthier missions...
FAMAE SAF - now in full black finish. less overt and more covert. ...ops, that is... ;)
SPAS12 - ditched the awful camo paintjob, better body detail on the skin and black plastic pump/grip
5.56 sniper rifle - charcoal-grey synthetic stock - just as generic but a more modern military asthetic
SAW gpmg - now black instead of green
flamer - also now black instead of green
slugthrower - this is now black/grey instead of tan
rocket-launcher - and this is green instead of tan, most rpg's are painted dark-green as-standard and, as such, I felt this looked better...
as well as this there are optional induvidual weapon add-ons that can be used in conjuction with the above pack to give alternate weapon skins:
obviously it is not possible to have more than one of these skins for the same weapon at a time. but only an idiot would think that, right?
again, just put these in your 'base' folder and the game will load them after the main file...
'chrome/stainless' Glock- changes the glock to feature a chrome/stainless slide
'blingy' Glock - as above but this version includes engraving work to the body, grip and slide and golden sights, for the extrovert in you...
black eagle - simple black version of the .44
Tactical eagle - same as above but with built in weaver rail.
'Golden Eagle' - Duke Nukem's signature custom desert eagle with gold finish and inlaid symbol on the grips
'chrome/stainless' FAMAE SAF - Chrome/stainless finish in the bodywork, black mag, grip and sights. this crazy-ass looking smg was inspired by the mp5 that dennis hopper's character (howard payne) used at the end of the movie 'speed'... rediculous? yes but a good effect nonetheless...
5.56 sniper rifle - olive-green synthetic stock, just like the one in the main pack but green instead of grey
Finally theres also some remixes of the 'arms' to include more than the standard 'night-strike' black-ops skin and to increase resolution...
as wit the weapons skins you can only load one at a time so simply choose a favourite and stick it in you 'base folder'
I like to change them about depending on what maps I'm playing...
night strike - go black-ops in higher resolution than before (original arms remix)
arctic tundra - blend into those snowy enviroments a little easier
desert storm - look a little less conspicuous when amongst the dunes
woodland camo - dissapear into 'the green' with greater ease
nypd - join the cops in hells kitchen to thicken up the thin-blue-line a bit...
flectarn - an eastern block alternative to the us woodland camo
serbian - serbian stripe in blue-grey
tigerstripe - us jungle pattern as used in 'nam
also, feel free to try the following three digital camo schemes for a more current military look
digi green - classic camo with a modern twist
digi grey - suitable as arctic or urban camo
digi desert - ideal for disappearing in sandy places
A final word, for those struggling to get this old game to even load in windows10:
1, be sure to download the community edition, free and legaly form here: Moddb.com
2, if it still wont run, copy the sof.exe from the game folder to the desktop.
3, rename this exe to sof_.exe
4, copy this back into the game folder. so that you have sof.exe AND, now sof_.exe
5, use sof_.exe to run the game. not sof.exe and it should load fine.
btw I'd advise making all your changes to video setting and keybindings etc... upon your first load, and then shut the game down and reload before actually playing. I found this "settled-out" any of the kinks and I've had fun playing sof again ever since, YAY!
