A patch to improve performance when using JSRS Sound while maintaining quality. Has compatibility for Blindside's as well.
What is this mod?:
This mod is a simple patch to increase performance when using JSRS Sound by reducing the number of sound layers played per gunshot. This mod can help reduce stuttering and increase fps in scenarios where there's a lot of gunfire happening at once, such as in densely populated maps.
- If you use JSRS, every single gunshot triggers a large number of sound layers compared to vanilla to create complex sounds. This also applies to NPC gunshots.
- Unfortunately, this increases CPU load compared to vanilla because of the number of sound layers that need to be processed for every single shot. This is especially noticeable in populated maps like Army Warehouses when there are many NPCs firing in proximity.
- Most people's PCs can handle these scenarios, but for some people like me who don't have great CPUs or for people who want to maximize performance, my patch will come in handy.
- In the patch, I removed some of the duplicate sound layers. Normally these duplicates were meant to stagger identical sounds, but they're not usually noticeable in ordinary gameplay.
- I didn't modify the sound files or prevent sounds from playing. I only scaled down the identical layers by comparing each sound file carefully. With this patch you will still hear all the nice details.
- The only difference will be a small loss in complexity that is barely noticeable unless you're really paying attention.
- You can add or remove this mod mid-save. We already use this mod in EFP 3.0 for performance without anybody noticing a difference in quality.
- There are some similar mods on moddb, but they cause a big drop in quality because they changed the sound files and/or removed too many sound layers. In comparison, my patch has the optimal balance between quality and performance.
- If you want to try it out yourself, remember to back up your old weapon_sounds.ltx found in gamedata/configs/items/weapons. If you don't like this mod, just replace your weapon_sounds.ltx with the version you backed up. Compatibility notes below.
How to install:
[1.] This patch requires "JSRS Sound": link here
- The "JSRS Sound" download has multiple mod folders. Follow its instructions and make sure you install the "Main JSRS" mod and the "Cracks + Impacts" mod that is included.
[2.] Extract this mod's zip and keep reading below:
- From this mod's zip, go into the "JSRS Lite Main" folder and drag the "gamedata" folder into your "Anomaly" folder. Let it overwrite if it asks.
- If you're using Mod Organizer, drag the "JSRS Lite Main" folder into your Mod Organizer's "mods" folder. The "mods" folder is found in the same folder that ModOrganizer.exe is located. You will need to restart/refresh Mod Organizer to see the mod at the bottom of the load order. Activate it and place it after your other JSRS mods.
[3.] If you're also playing with "Blindside's Weapon Reanimation": link here
- Make sure you have already installed the "Blindside's JSRS Patch": link here
- From this mod's zip, go into the "JSRS Lite Patch for Blindsides + JSRS" folder and drag the "gamedata" folder into your "Anomaly" folder. Let it overwrite if it asks.
- If you're using Mod Organizer, drag the "JSRS Lite Patch for Blindsides + JSRS" folder into your Mod Organizer's "mods" folder. The "mods" folder is found in the same folder that ModOrganizer.exe is located. You will need to restart/refresh Mod Organizer to see the mod at the bottom of the load order. Activate it and place it after your other JSRS and Blindsides mods.
Compatibility:
- This patch will be compatible with any mod that doesn't have a "weapon_sounds.ltx" file found in gamedata/configs/items/weapons
- If you already have a mod besides JSRS or Blindsides that provides "weapon_sounds.ltx", then open your existing "weapon_sounds.ltx" and replace all the lines that say "#include" at the top with the "#include" lines from this mod's weapon_sounds.ltx. This will allow you to keep using your old file without replacing it. All other files from this patch are necessary.

Wow, this looks promising ... At this moment I'm drunk and I will not be able to read the full description (and even less still in English) but I'm going to download it and tomorrow I'll go back and read as it's installed ... Thank you very much!! 10/10 if tomorrow work fine :)
Enjoy!
Just curious, will this help with occasional pauses and stutters, or just frame rate?
Whatever the case, great work!
Helps stutters as well, at least in my case.
I have a 2012 laptop with a garbage CPU; without this Lite patch, using JSRS always made my game stutter along in certain maps when there were too many gunshots happening at once.
With this patch I get almost no stutter anymore.
As a side note, if your PC stutters often even if there aren't a lot of gunshots happening, you may also want to go into Settings -> The Zone and turn Offline Combat to "Smart Terrains Only" or turn it "Off" altogether.
Awesome! I have a pretty decent CPU, but I still get stutters here and there (and I do have offline combat turned off). Anything to help smooth it out as much as possible is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi again, I have installed in my Anomaly for some time (directly, without mod manager) in the following way respecting the pre-stable order in the description of this Addon Moddb.com
- EFT reposition
- JSRS 3.6
- JSRS_Impact_Crack_Fly-by_Sounds_v1.1
- JSRS P.3 - New Tracers Patch
- Blinside reeanim
- Patch EFT (EFTrepos + blindside Vanilla)
- Blinsides JSRS patch
- B&S
- EFT repos. patch B&S
- Patch B&S + JSRS
So... Now I add this mod "JSRS Lite Patch for Blindsides + JSRS" in my "Mod Manager" and everything will work well?
I have read the instructions and I think I understood that in fact it is like that, but English and the hangover give me a little insecurity, that is why I ask to confirm that this would be the way to follow.
Thank you and forgiveness for the hassle 😳
With your existing order, you will first need to add the gamedata from "JSRS Lite Main" then add the gamedata from "JSRS Lite Patch for Blindsides + JSRS"
Ok perfect thank you very much.
Everything works perfect Man, if there is a drop in sound quality, it is imperceptible (at least for me, I do not notice difference)
I never felt that the stuttering affects me too much with JSRS, but it is always good to have something that takes care of it if at some point he wants to appear, and your work shows that it is well done and it is nice to have it.
Great job, thank you very much 10/10
That's good to hear. Thanks for the encouragement
Im using MO2 to install my mods. I have a similar list of mods ST0NER uses. Loading this patch at the end with both enabled kinda works. The SVDS PMC im using does not have any firing sounds anymore. It does have reload sounds. Is there a different way I should install?
thanks for the performance boost!
I'm glad to help

You can barely notice the difference, a must have.
My game still haves some micro stutters here and there, one thing I noticed is that Disk usage during firefights goes trough the roof and lags my game, even with this lite patch, Is there something I can do? my load order is wrong? Thanks in advance.
I would recommend going into the Anomaly launcher and selecting the "prefetch sounds" option in the bottom-left corner before starting your game. This will probably help reduce disk usage and reduce stutters.
Holly **** I never even realized that JSRS was the cause of my stutters during heavy gun fights. I always thought it had something to do with the tracers and muzzle flash particles.
Thank youuu Minotaur21. My game much much better now.
The Installation steps were kind of hard to follow but manageable. The results, however, out-*******-standing! No more stutter, smooth FPS finally.
Thanks, Man! You're a savior.
Finally, I have a working BlindSides/JSRS setup! I haven't had any issues but I have a "missing ogg comment" warning for the BM16 reload sound. Do you know if this mod is related to it or if it can cause serious issues?

The missing ogg comment stuff is not related to this mod because this mod does not provide sound files.
You don't need to worry about this sort of error since it doesn't really harm your gameplay.
What this error means is that some other mod providing the bm16 reload sound might have issues like stereo vs mono sound, but it won't cause crashes or stutters.
Awesome, thanks for clarifying that. I figured it was just a warning but I can rest easier knowing it won't cause CTDs or anything serious
Thanks for making this mod! 10/10
Does this also work with "JSRS Sound Mod 5.0A Preview for 1.5.2"?
Not sure, but the worst that can happen if you use them together is that you lose out on some of the newer sounds in 5.0A. Which means that any missing sounds will default back to what they would have been like for JSRS for 1.5.1.
Bro, that mod literally saved my entertainment. But, sometimes the reload sounds don't play. Any help?
Sorry but your reload sound problem is probably because of a weapon mod you installed. This JSRS Lite Patch doesn't touch anything related to weapon reloads.
